Title: If I stumble, I'll surely fall.
Description: Open

Adriaan Murphy - June 30, 2008 08:09 AM (GMT)
Adriaan drifted through the grounds, snaking his way between trees with his nose shoved in a book. His steps were heavy, and uncertain due to his lack of attention to where he was headed. His robes twisted in his legs and billowed out like a balloon thanks to the wind. He passed a tree and as his feet trudged over its roots somehow one of them managed to catch on a root setting him off balance. He wobbled at first and it looked like he would make a recovery but his body quickly decided otherwise and he went tumbling in to the ground in front of him.

He had done a summersault and landed hard. He groaned and felt for his glasses, which had fallen from his face and landed on the ground next to him. Feeling too disoriented to get up he laid his open book on his face. What a site to see, had anyone been watching. His arms slid under his head and he stayed where he was, too embarrassed to get up and look to see if anyone had been watching. And with his head aching as badly as it was he didn't want to have to deal with feeling more embarrassed.

Angel Sergeotti - June 30, 2008 02:16 PM (GMT)
Angel's dark hair blew around her face as she walked through the grounds. The winds were making her robes twist around her as well, making it a difficult feat just to walk. She turned her back against the wind for some relief against the constant blowing and heard a disturbance behind her, a thumping noise. She turned back around, just in time to see the end of a boy's failed summersault. She hadn't even noticed the boy previously, and now here he was, laying on the ground a few feet from her, with his book open, covering his face. She started towards him, then held herself back momentarily before walking cautiously over to where he laid.

She chose her words carefully, as she didn't want to embarass him any more than he likely already was.

"Are...are you alright?" she asked softly. "That looked like it hurt..." she grimaced slightly, remembering how hard the landing sounded. She was always trying to fix people, whether physically or emotionally, it was just in her nature to want to help.

Adriaan Murphy - June 30, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
Adriaan cringed at the sound of someone’s voice. His fingers slid around the book on his face and pulled it down to rest on his chin. He tilted his head back, making the book slide from his chin and land gently on his neck, and he took in the girl in front –er, or behind?- him. His head throbbed from the movement. He smiled a big goofy-looking smile. “I’ll be fine. Just need to lie for a bit.” He lifted the book from his neck and laid it on the ground. His hand found the frail glasses he had been missing earlier. He picked them up and slid them on his face, not noticing the nice crack that went right through the right lens. “I’m used to hurting myself, I’m probably the biggest klutz you’ll meet.” He said with a light laugh.

"Sorry for seeming so rude, I would get up to greet you if my head wasn't killing me." He looked rather silly with a crack going through his lens and his hair fanning out from his head and sprawling across the ground.

Angel Sergeotti - June 30, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Angel smiled back at the boy, all the while trying to subdue a giggle that was rising, caused by the way he was sprawled out on the ground. He did look rather silly, but she didn't want him to think she was making fun of him, that wasn't her intention at all. She noticed the fresh crack in his glasses - she could, of course, fix that if he liked. She was a typical Ravenclaw, meaning she spent a lot of her spare time reading and was fairly knowledgeable about spells, especially practical ones. She didn't want to assume he didn't know the spell himself, however, because he too had his nose in a book - literally. Her eyes moved slowly to the book itself, in curiosity. She loved other people who read, she much preferred intelligent people to any other kind of person. She crouched down beside him.

"Oh, it's alright." she said casually in reply to his apology for rudeness. "I'm Angel. Angel Sergeotti." She paused for a moment before holding out a hand to offer help up.

Adriaan Murphy - June 30, 2008 11:45 PM (GMT)
Adriaan watched her feeling the itchiness of the grass tickle his neck. He smiled and took her hand, his hand, being quite a bit bigger than hers, wrapped around hers with ease but the grip was gentle. He didn’t really put a lot of his weight on her, using his other hand to push off the ground. “Thanks” he said wiggling his way in to a sit. His hair clung to the grass and pulled some of it up with it. Taking her in, right-side-up, he noticed that her face fractured about half way down. He took off his glasses and looked at the crack. Shaking his head he untangled his robes trying to get to his pocket. “I'm.. Adriaan” he said slowly, a little preoccupied with try to find his pocket.

Angel Sergeotti - July 2, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
Angel watched him struggle to try to locate his pocket in his twisted robes (she assumed he was trying to get out his wand) and, never missing a chance to show off a little bit, whipped out her own wand.
"Here," she offered, "let me get that for you". She pointed her wand at his glasses and quietly uttered the spell; "Reparo". She smiled slightly, admiring her handiwork, and then sat on the ground a few feet from Adriaan.
"So..uhm" she started. She looked back at the book in his possession. "What exactly is it you're reading? It must have been interesting" she laughed softly, trying not to seem too nosy or bothersome, she was just trying to be social for the most part. It didn't look as if either of them had any urgent business they had to attend to, so why not try to make a friend or at least have an attempt at some conversation?

Adriaan Murphy - July 3, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Adriaan smiled and stopped his attempt to find his twisted pocket. "Thank you." He said unfolding the frame and looking at the newly fixed glasses. He slid them back on, not caring enough to try to find his pocket again. "Oh.. nothing much." He answered turning to his book and grabbing it off the ground.

"I brought it from home. I've read it already, but there aren't many books in the library that I like." He looked over the cover and put it in his lap. "I guess there isn't a big demand for books written by muggles in our school." He shrugged and laughed lightly. "Do you read a lot?"

Angel Sergeotti - July 6, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
Angel nodded and pushed a piece of dark hair out of her eyes. So, he read muggle books. That was a good sign - people with blood prejudice usually wanted nothing to do with muggles. Being a half-blood, she appreciated both magical and muggle books herself. "Yeah, the library is pretty scarce on that, I would think. There really isn't much need for it here, I don't think. Besides pleasure, but I'm guessing not many people read for pleasure here." She half-rolled her eyes; she hated how the majority of the school was quidditch-obsessed and had no interest in anything useful.
"Yeah, I do read a lot" she replied to his next question. "I'm in Ravenclaw, so....that's typical." She grinned, she always sounded like such a nerd to new people, but it never bothered her. She'd rather be seen as a nerd than a boring, unintelligent teenage girl.

(OOC: Ah, sorry for the delay, I'm always gone on weekends. And my muse seems to be MIA, thus the poor quality of my RP'ing right now.)

Adriaan Murphy - July 7, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
"I'm glad to meet someone else who reads a lot. I don't think there are many here that do, I don't blame them. Magic is an interesting thing." He shrugged. He thought her name had sounded familiar, but couldn't remember where he had heard it from. Maybe they had a class together or something. "I think it's better to read than a lot of other things, any kind of book teaches just as much as any class."

He laughed at himself "But i'm sure you know that, you said you read a lot too. What's your favorite things to read? You one of those really big weirdos that likes to read for mostly studying purposes?"

(o.o.c. It's cool I had a busy weekend anyway. And i'm trying to find my muse too.)

Angel Sergeotti - July 10, 2008 04:49 PM (GMT)
Angel nodded in agreement. Most of the people she knew here had no interest in anything intellectual - it was all about the quidditch or the boys or the girls or whatever. This school was more a social gathering than a school. "Depending on the professor, books can teach more than some classes" she laughed. She knew of some teachers who had no idea what they were doing. She often wondered how they even got the position, and thought she could do a better job in her sleep. But, of course, she thought that about a lot of things - she was bad when it came to superiority complexes.

She laughed at his next statement. "I read everything. I am one of those big weirdos, I'll have you know" she smiled at him defiantly. "But that's just because I'm interested in the theory of everything. I mean, I like fiction and all that but I try to stay in the real world, for the most part." She pondered that for a moment. The "real world" was strange enough for her. "What about you, what do you read?"
