Title: Candelight Drawing
Description: Opennnnnnnnnn
April Teagan - July 1, 2008 05:34 PM (GMT)
At the top of the Astronomy Tower, April was sprawled out on the stones, quill in hand, and carefully adding detail to a drawing. Beside her, candles burned, giving off an eerie yellow glow and sending shadows across the Tower. April's tongue was between her teeth, and she was attempting to make her skyline look more realistic. Looking down, she magicked some of the ink off and tried again.
Moments later, she could hear the din of footsteps climbing the stairs to where she lay, behind a wall. There would be no hiding from teachers, however, since the candles gave her away. April sighed and continued to draw, hoping it was just another sleep deprived student such as herself. She looked up when the footsteps stopped.

Finn made his way up the never ending flight of stairs to the astronomy tower. Why he decided it was a good idea to climb so many stairs with a hip like his he did not know. He paused at the top and let out a low groan before he noticed the oddly comforting glow of the candles. He approached the figure on the ground without hesitation.
"Hello, love." He greeted before sitting on the floor. The soft flicker of the candle light illuminated both of their faces and Finneas smiled at the girl. the thought that he may be intruding on her never crossed his mind. "What brings you here on a lovely night like this?"

To April's initial shock, the boy who appeared at the top of the stairs was very up front with her, and graciously walked over and sat on the ground beside her. She edged away a bit to give him ample room, and then looked up as he spoke. April found his greeting to be casual but unusual, so she was immediately interested. He seemed like a nice enough guy to her.
"Love? That's a good one," she said, laughing. "And I could ask you the same, sneaking up on me like that. But, to answer your question, I couldn't sleep, so I decided to draw."
She offered up the parchment to allow him to look, although she typically didn't show anyone her work. The light was flickering gently and gave the air a mysterious type of glow, but April was completely at ease.

Finn nodded. "Can't sleep eh. That makes two of us." He gazed at her picture, pleased that she shared it with him. Self-consciousness was definately a turnoff. "That's very nice." He commented. Finneas reached into his pocket and extracted a pack of cigarettes. He placed one between his lips ang lit it with a black zippo. He tilted his head back and exhaled a puff of smoke towards the sky.
"Sorry if it bothers you." He said, a smile on his lips. "Nasty habit I can't seem to break myself of." He took another pull and ran a hand through his hair. "Anyway, my name is, well, you can call me Finn." He greatly prefered Finn to Finneas. He would forever curse his mother for giving him such a god awful name.

April giggled, knowing it was often hard to sleep in a school where you had to share rooms with people you often disliked, or were annoying sleepers. April faced similar problems, so she didn't end up sleeping too much, at least, during the night. She also liked the way that he complimented her, which was definately nice of him.
"Thank you," she said graciously, folding up the parchment and putting it in her robes pocket.
She watched as he took out cigarettes and lit one, exhaling smoke into the night sky. Smelling the nasty stench, she turned away, trying not to breath too much of it into her nostrils. The smell was sickening to her.
"Oh, it's not a proble. I just don't like the smell," she said truthfully. "But it's nice to meet you Finn. I'm April, by the way."
"what year are you in... and house?" she asked, liking to get the easy information out of the way as quickly as possible.
Finneas Griffin - July 15, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
"Sorry." He said again with a shrug of his shoulders. Truth was, actually, he was not all that sorry. It just seemed like the right thing to say. He inhaled and turned his head, blowing the toxins away from the girl. Finneas stretched his legs out infront of him and leaned back on his hands.
Finn nodded, acknowledging her introduction. "I'm a 7th year Ravenclaw. And yourself?
