What to do, what to do Thought one Tristan James Calant as he paced aimlessly about the middle level of the astronomy tower, hands in hands in his pockets. It was early evening on a weekend and again Tristan had been left with nothing better to do. He had gotten up with the idea of heading to the library to find a book but his feet had led him here instead. Pausing, he moved to the window and stared out at the grounds. This particular window had a pleasent view of the mountains beyond Hogwarts. He smiled as he watched the sun make slow progress behind the mountains. All together it made quite an enjoyable effect on the scenery, even though Tristan normally wasn't one to pay attention to those kinds of things.
Well, I've already gotten my homework done for the weekend, finished reading the Count of Monte Cristo, sent a letter back home. I don't want to go back to the Common Room and I don't want to take the time to find someone. So I guess I'm stuck. He added, frowning for a second as he came onto it.
He said down at the table in the center of the room, hands behind his head as he sat back. I really need to have a plan for these kinds of things. Next time think a little Tristan, I mean really. Last week it was the kitchens, a month before the owlery, where will you end up next? He thought closing his eyes as he relaxed. Well, maybe not, after all making a plan would take the fun out of this
Tristan began contemplating his week. Didn't do too bad in Charms. I don't want to think about Transfiguration...at all. Potions was bearable, sort of. Care of Magical Creatures went pretty well. I'm surprised I managed to get into Medicinal Magic, that didn't go great... All in all not a bad week, haven't run into anyone though, people must be busy. Ah well. He thought sighing deeply, which he normally didn't do often
(Sorry its short but I don't have much of idea where this is going to go, please join.)
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 2, 2008 09:25 PM (GMT)
She barely made a sound as she walked, her foot falls light and her steps fluid; Fawne had always been the quite sort, ingrained with a certain grace that seemed to belong to a dancer from centuries past. Even her very appearance made her seem old fashioned; like a pot doll, short and pale. Everything about her seemed odd, her nature included, but that was nothing new. It also likely explained why she was always wandering around the castle at all hours. Sometimes she would wander just for something to do whilst her mind dwelt in thoughts, other times she would wander looking for adventure, and others she would wander looking for company. At the moment she was doing the latter; she was longing for company, it seemed being odd had its down falls…
As she thought her feet were lithely climbing up the steps to the astronomy tower, she supposed she’d chosen to start looking here out of habit. It was where she used to meet him, after all. She refused to lessen the half smile on her lips at the thought of him it was pointless to dwell in the past and she was beginning to move on; with the help of friends. Without even realising it she had absently reached the door of the astronomy room, she was almost tempted to turn back, sure the room would be empty. But in the end she chose not to, finding no harm in wasting a few moments checking.
She pushed the door lightly, grey eyes scanning the room as she walked in, allowing the door to shut with a small bang. It took a moment for her to notice the other figure in the large room; he was seemingly staring out over the grounds. It took her mind further moment to recognise the figure, though she should have known that hair anywhere; she found the colour of it wonderful. With a small smile on her lips she took a few more steps across the room, now stood a few meters from him. Although she only spoke a word, her her voice was soft in tone and filled with the melodic notes it always held.
“Tristan?”
Tristan Calant - July 3, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
Tristan quickly sat up the chair, craning his nexk to see who it was, his bronze hair covering his eyes as he did this. After moving his hair he could see it was his friend and fellow sixth year Gryffindor Fawne Sugarmoon. She was a pleasent girl, her personality somewhat simliar to his, perhaps a tad bit quirkier than he was but otherwise. Otherwise were slightly thrown by her appearnce and the way she carried herself, but Tristan much enjoyed Fawne's attitude and company, as long as he isn't reading that is.
"Hi, hi." He said, using his customary gretting, waving at her. He smiled, relieved that he wouldn't have to muse by himself. "Fancy meeting you here." He added, swinging his arms wide to indicate the large room.
"Nice evening ain't?" He said gesturing to the large window, still grinning widely. Weather, always a conversation-starter. Especially when I can't think of anything else to say... He thought, chuckling softly.
Slowly he stood, turning to face Fawne. He bowed at the waist, struggling to keep his face straight. "Good evening my lady. Would you be so kind to do me the pleasure of your company?" He asked, trying to sound articulate. "It would be quite an honor to converse with you over the week's events." He added politely.

Forrest Clandestine - July 3, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
Forrest Yawned as she closed her last homework book for the evening. She had been in the Library all day doing projects and homework. Now that she was finished she had to hurry to the astronomy tower to go get monk ,her pet kneazle. while she was in class she would leave him in the astronomy tower.
As she climbed the stairs she hoped that he was still alive and in his cage. She also thought about wether she gave him enough food and water to last him through out the day.
As she opened the door to the astronomy tower Forrest called for monk.
"Monk... Oh..." she stopped as she seen two people inside.
It looked as if the boy was taking a bow or something. and the girl was in front of him standing.
"Oh uh sorry I didn't think anybody was in here." she said as she brushed her hair out of her face.
" I didn't mean to interupt your....what ever you was doing. I just acame up here to get my kneazle ." she let go of the door and walked over to a cage and opened it. she pulled out a black kitten with purple eyes.
She smiled happily and greeted her kneazle " Hey Monk. Did you miss me?" Monk purred as Forrrest scratched his head.
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 4, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
Her smile became more pronounced when he waved at her, glad she had addressed the right person after all. And she had found some company to boot. She waved back calmly with a pale hand before allowing her eyes to follow his moments and her ears to absorb his words. She always did try to be aware of everything, though more often than not she wasn’t.
Her serene outer appearance was ruined when he bowed, speaking with his words that were extra polite. It was ruined because she couldn’t help but giggle frivolously, though not in a malicious way; her giggle being a light musical sound that belonged on a wing chime. As she giggled the once waving hand rose delicately to cover her mouth, the other reaching to the hem of her skirt as she curtsied in reply, her foot movements perfect for the polite gesture .Of course the whole proper appearance of the movement was ruined by the giggle.
“Of course fair sir, I rather believe it would be my pleasure for your company. Though I am flattered you believe the opposite.” Her voice was still as soft as ever but her words were even more politely formed than normal. She was playing along with his game.
She never did get to say much else, or comment on the weather, since the door to the astronomy tower was opening once more. With a dancers twirl on her feet she moved to face the girl. Fawne listened to the girls words with the same attention she gave Tristan. Though the smile was back to its usual kind of a wistful half smile. She had a reputation to keep after all. Her grey eyes watched her remove a cat from a cage and she finally though it appropriate to speak.
“Oh its quite alright, this is a public place after all.” Her tone was melodic and kind, it was possible she didn’t have a mean bone in her body after all.
OOC: dont worry about it, it does the same to mine =]
Tristan Calant - July 5, 2008 05:55 PM (GMT)
Turning a slight shade of red, Tristan slowly rose from his bow, staring at the stone floor so no one would see him blushing. But he quickly regained his composure. After winking at Fawne he began. "Quite right. You are entitled to roam around the castle just as much as we are. Your intrusion is perfectly alright, if anything it is my fault for being such a gentleman in a public place, I should have expected someone to see my display." He said bowing again to the girl who had just entered the room. She didn't seem to notice as she was concentrating on her kitten.
"I count myself very lucky to be in the presence of two such lovely ladies as yourselves." He said, grinning as he turned from Fawne to the new girl. Maybe I actually pulled that off, I'm never good at flirting, especially when its with girls, Fawne knows that from experience. He thought, remembering the other occasions he had tried to make a move on a girl or anyone for that matter. Most people realize how terrible I am with making a move right away, hopefully this girl is no exception. "Forgive me, my name is Tristan James Calant, but please just call me Tristan. If you could please never call me by my last name, that is becoming more popular to do so and I am not quite fond of this craze." He added for good measure.
Tristan turned his attention to the black kitten the girl was holding, he moved a few steps back, trying to be as discret as possible. I'm not too fond of cats and I'm slightly allergic to them so its best I keep my distance. He thought. He had had several unsavory experiences with the feline species, one involving a mis-fired spell and a very fierce lawn-mower.
"So what are you two girls doing up here? I myself was just wandering around the castle, perhaps the same thing applies to the two of you." He said brightly, looking from Fawne to the other and back again, waiting for a responce. His smile remained planted on his face, he was quite determined to make a good first impression. Among others this was something he wasn't very good at. Most people disregarded him as an idiot because of the impressions he has made in the past, Tristan was quite determined to rid himself of those..
Forrest Clandestine - July 5, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
Forrest stopped petting Monk and looked at the boy with a raised eyebrowl as he started politely bowing in front of her.
She smirked at the boy and put monk on the floor. Then she grabbed the sides of her pants and did a slight curtsie. " Sorry i don't have a skirt on. Today was my gym day"she said as she stood back up.
"Forgive me, my name is Tristan James Calant, but please just call me Tristan. If you could please never call me by my last name, that is becoming more popular to do so and I am not quite fond of this craze."
Stilll having her smirk on she said " Am i the start of you trying to end the craze of using your last name as your first?"
Monk sat next to Forrest's foot with his big purple eyes watching every move that the two unfamiliar figures were making.
"Im Forrest , Forrest Clandestine." she said introducing her self and then looked down and said " And this is Monk my kneazle."
She watched the boy as he slightly moved back and then looked down at monk. Monk could sense the boys uncomfort so he stood and walked back to his cage that was across the room even though at the cage monk never took his eyes off of the new figures.
"So what are you two girls doing up here? I myself was just wandering around the castle, perhaps the same thing applies to the two of you."
" Well i just came up here to get monk. I always leave him up here when im in class he doesn't like my dorm room but for some reason he is alwaqys much more comfortable in the astronomy tower."she said and then turned to monk and gave him a gentle smile.
she turned to the girl and awaited for her response on why she was up here in the astronomy tower.
Just then monk hissed and forrest's attention went from the girl to Monk. She saw what looked like a letter inside of a book that had been sitting by monks cage for a while. Forrest walked over to the book and picked it up. " what is it Monk it's just a book." she tried to calm monk down but he kept hissing. Forrest finally gave in feeling scared and embarrassed that monk was having a fit in front of new people she opened the book and pulled out the letter. The hand writing was unfamiliar but then letter was to forrest from a anonymous someone.
She put the letter in her pocket and then signaled monk to stop and that there was no reason for him to get alarmed cause she knew if monk would have gotten any angrier he would have trasformed and Forrest knew that it was Forbbiden for monk to trasform on Hawthorne school grounds.
She turned back to tristan and a girl who name forrest still didn't know yet and said" it was just a letter nothing to serious. Monk is really sensitive about things that come around me . He's on watch 24/7." she said while sratching her head and almost Wishing that what just happened didn't . " So what House are you guys in?" she said trying to change the subject.
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 7, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
The corner of her lips tilted the half smile slightly as he winked at her. She was a little shocked when he grinned and attempted to flirt, though she did nothing to show it. Flirting was something he’d tried in front of herself, and on herself before. He was about as good at it as she was; which was brilliant if it wasn’t direct. She couldn’t help but smile at his comment, her misty eyes lighting up with amusement, in a kind way though.
She listened to his words silently, it wasn’t that she didn’t have anything to say it was just that by nature she hated to interrupt; and it always seemed as if Tristan had a lot to say so she was waiting for his little speech to finish. She didn’t honestly mind his chattering, in fact she found it rather endearing and his whole cheerful attitude drew her to him like a moth to a flame; which was perhaps why they were friends. Her musing was cut short as Forrest began to reply, and she mentally kicked herself for being rude.
She looked slightly puzzled when the Forrest spoke about using his last name as his first. Fawne hadn’t caught onto this comment when made by Tristan but it had sunk in when made by Forrest. Fawne tended to call everyone by there first name, not nicknames or last names, and so she couldn’t help but jump into the conversation on instinct, her soft voice breaking into a pause in the speech.
“I have always called you Tristan." she paused as she turned her silver eyes to Tristan hen back to Forrest her mind suddenly realising she hadn’t even introduced herself. “Oh, I do apologise; I forgot to tell you I am Fawne Sugarmoon.”
She didn’t get to say much else since Forrest was answering Tristan’s question about being here, when Forrest finished and turned her gaze to Fawne she realised it was her turn to respond. However before a single word could leave her lips ‘Monk’ seemed to being hissing. She watched the creature with undisguised curiosity, she had always found animals to be most intuitive and she wondered why the kneazle was offended. However her question was answered before she even had chance to make a theory. ‘Monk’ was protecting his owner, from a letter, which was a little odd but the whole protecting thing made sense.
Her mind was suddenly aware she had yet to answer Tristan’s question, never mind Forrest’s and she took the pause in conversation as her que. Her musical voice ringing out her reply in the silence.
“I have always found the view form here delightful and so I allowed my feet to lead the way. I was wandering mostly, rather like you, Tristan.”
She paused before answering Forrest’s question about her house. She paused mainly because she was moving to sit on one of the desks. With one fluid movement she was perched on the end of the desk, rather than the chair. Her hands placed lightly in her lap and her ankles crossed. She returned Tristan’s wink from earlier and softly patted the space at the side of her, offering him a seat. She returned her gaze to Forest and her hands to her lap as she spoke.
“Oh, I am a lion by the way. And yourself Miss. Forrest?”
Tristan Calant - July 8, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
"I realize you've always called Tristan but more and more people who don't know me well have begun calling me Calant and this is something I find slightly annoying. I do know that was strange to add that but that was my random fact of the day. and I do ask you to remember it." He said nodding at Fawne, chuckling slightly as he spoke. He moved to sit back down in the chair he had been found at, but this time sitting up attentively.
He returned his gaze to Forrest, then quickly to her cat, He had all of a sudden got very stiff and took the offensive stand of that of his species, glaring at a letter that was in his cage, as Forrest placed the letter inside her robes, Monk as she had called him still didn't relax. "Protective little bugger." He murmured, eying the cat with renewed curiosity and awareness.
So what House are you guys in? The girl asked, this made Tristan turn around, letting Fawne respond first, for once. He folded his legs under him as he waited to answer..He caught Fawne's wink and returned a smile. This is one reason why we get along, we can share this little moments without having to explain anything. Most people who look at me questioningly if I winked, not Fawne though He thought. Tristan paused, People are right, I do babble.
"Tristan James Calant." He said in a passable imitation of Professor McGonagal. He stood, and mimed himself as a first-year slowly walking to the Sorting Hat. Tristan tried to recall exactly how he felt that day, making his expression match. "Gryffindor!" He said loudly, his voice high a crackling a little but with great certainty. "So here I am five years later." He said throwing his arms wide, almost falling off of the seat.
Forrest Clandestine - July 10, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
Forrest giggled at Tristan's dramatic movements as he told his story about his history at hogwarts. " Thats a great story tristan." she said as she bent down to bntie her shoe. She looked up from her sneaker and said " So fawne what's your story?' she stood and then walked to a small coffee table and sat down and crossed her legs in indian style.
She turned her attention at fawn and then glanced at tristan who still was smiling about his story. She figured he was in a fairly good mood. She laughed to her self as she turned her gaze back to fawne.
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 14, 2008 03:48 PM (GMT)
OOC: Sorry about the wait, i didn't have internet acess last weekend.
IC:
She watched Tristan’s theatrics with a half smile, her eyes full of mirth but her outer appearance for ever serene. As his face took on the expression of a real first year waiting to be sorted she couldn’t help but giggle; it was very convincing even if he looked far too old to be 11 now. She remembered her sorting quite clearly, but she remembered Tristan’s too, they were in the same house and year after all.
Fawne continued to smile wistfully when Forrest’s laugh caught her attention, the girl seemed to be tying her shoe. It took a moment for Fawne to realise Forrest as talking to her but by the time she had Forest was sat on a table opposite. Fawne crossed her ankles as she swung her legs slightly back and forth, hands clasped together lightly resting on her lap; she was unable to sit crossed legged like Forrest due to her own attire.
“Oh, I, um.” It was unusual for Fawne to stutter and it seemed very out of place in her soft voice, she took a silent deep breath. Forest was only asking about her sorting not her entire life there was no need for panic. With her mind settled the half smile grew in a brighter one and all traces of the stutter were gone from her voice when she next spoke.
“I am a horrid actress; I rather think it would be safer for me to tell my story…My sorting was rather delightful actually; I was one of the only students smiling and one of the last sorted. Tristan was already at the Lion’s table when the hat was positioned on my head.” Her attention switched from Forrest to Tristan now, her words directed at him “I find I was rather lucky for I ended up sat with you during the wonderful feast. Oh and the other first years of course.” Her smile seemed a little mischievous as her mind skimmed over memories, she was sure that was the first time she told Tristan she loved his hair. Her head suddenly titled and her gaze switched to Forrest. “I am sure we would find it wonderful for you to share your sorting also?”
Tristan Calant - July 15, 2008 04:58 AM (GMT)
Tristan's eyes lite up as he listened to Fawne's story, his own memories mixing in with the descrpiton she gave. The thing he remembered most vividly was the fact that Fawne was the only other first year who had been smiling as the hat fell past her eyes. It had taken the hat a few minutes to come up with a decision but when finally did speak it sound certain. Tristan had joined in the clapping as she placed the hate back on the seat.He had waved her over, smiling widely. After seeing him she had come to sit down next to him.
The first thing she had said was that she liked his hair, that sent them both into a fit of giggles and broke the ice. After that the two found they had much in common, that started their friendship off to a great start. Tristan smiled as he took a few seconds to look back on some of the memories he had made that year.
He heard Fawne's tone change and he snapped out of the half-daze in turn to hear Fawne ask Forrest to speak of her own Sorting. "Yes. I woud like to hear if you don't mind, I think its fun listening to others tell a story." He said nodding.

Fawne Sugarmoon - July 28, 2008 11:35 AM (GMT)
((OOC: sorry i was waiting for Forrest))
Her sorting had taken an average sort of length, to her at least; others often told her it took a while. She supposed it had something to do with the hat being unable to choose between two houses. It wanted to put her in Slytherin for her masquerade, always appearing so delicate but with a keen mind. And because of that keen mind he wanted to put her in Ravenclaw. However whilst searching her mind he found a bizarre kind of courage hat could only be nurtured in Gryffindor. And so there she was placed, the hats decision certain. Moments after her sorting she’d plopped down next to Tristan and from there their friendship sparked.
Thinking back on her first year caused her to smile fondly at Tristan, who appeared to be doing the same. The two had been friends for a while now, despite their own quirks and oddities. She continued to smile at Tristan as he spoke, though it seemed Forrest was in a world of her own for she had not replied. The silence grew a little more and with no intention of being impolite she decided to break it; her soft tones cutting through the silence.
“You know I still do rather like your hair, its such a wonderful colour.”
Forrest Clandestine - August 9, 2008 11:17 PM (GMT)
OCC; sorry about the long wait. Im at a over night camp and it's hard to get to a computer . especially since im a counselor.
Forrest looked up at fawn and said "
who me... my sorting. well it was okay i remeber that i really wasn't that excited te here."
she looked down at the floor then back up at fawn and said " actually my father put me in her just after my mother died cause he didn't want to look at me. He claimed i ooked to much like her."
"When the hat screamed RAVENCLAW..." I wasn't all that happy judging that every Clandestine in my family was always in slytherin. So that was always a strike against me. My older sister Sylence is in slytherin . And another thing that worried me was that i would always have to walk in her shadow as long as i am here."
Forrest sighed as she continued." and i really hate walking in her footsteps when at times we are like peanut butter and jelly we work good together but we are two different textures and two different people. But not everyone understands that."
She looked up at the clock and said" well anyway on a lighter note. So how was you guys year so far?"
