Title: Relaxing
Description: Calum
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 05:26 AM (GMT)
It had been a long day for Carly. She was trying to get over the events of the previous night. She had to try her best to avoid Trey and hearing from the ministry of magic was not something she enjoyed. It was getting late and most people were off to their dorms to get to sleep. Carly couldn't sleep, she found that hard to do lately. She would usually go into the forest, but that obviously didn't work out very well last night. She wanted a safe, quiet place tonight. So she made her way to the library.
She didn't have anything to do in there, but it was a place to sit. When she got there, it was dimly lit and she saw no one in sight. She grabbed a book on the unforgivable curses. She mostly knew about them, but felt it was right to read up on them some more after what happened. She sat down at a table and sighed as she began to read.
She heard footsteps coming from behind her. She got scared. She was very defensive now, and only hoped it wasn't Trey. She tried to ignore it for fear of what she would see if she turned around.
Calum Ferguson - July 7, 2008 05:37 AM (GMT)
Calum was just walking down the corridors, when he relized he needed to do his homework on Vampires and he knew absolutely nothing on Vampires, excepting that they have fangs and suck blood. He needed to go to the library.
He sighed. He didn't like the library too much. It was too quiet and peaceful and he was not in a mood that would allow him to stay calm, but homework was a priority. His mum would send him another hundred howlers if he failed to hand in a piece of homework.
He walked reluctantly into the library picked a book on Vampires, and blindly sat down at a table where a girl sat, looking very stiff.
"What's up?" he asked enquiringly.
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 05:48 AM (GMT)
She didn't look up from her book, but she heard the person sit down at the same table as her. She just kept reading her book like she had no idea they were there. She almost hoped they wouldn't even talk to her. There was a silence for a few moments, then she heard the voice. Her insides jumped, but she didn't show that on the outside. It was a male, but definitely didn't sound like Trey. This calmed her down a bit.
She finally set the book down and looked over at him. She had no idea who he was, but she didn't care. "Hi.." She sounded a little reluctant. She looked at his book then back up at him. "Isn't it a little late to be doing homework?"
Calum Ferguson - July 7, 2008 06:01 AM (GMT)
He sighed.
He had hoped no one would enquire him about his homework.
"You know what? Why don't you go on doing your own business?" he snapped, then relised that he was just a little too loud. "Sorry, I'm not in my best of moods."
He got out a piece of parchment, a bottle of ink and quill.
"Vampires have fangs and suck blood." he said aloud, writing it down as he did. He knew it was the dumbest thing anyone could ever write about vampires, but he didn't care. All he needed to do was complete his essay.
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 06:07 AM (GMT)
When the boy gave Carly attitude, she was about ready to get up and punch him. Her anger seemed to always get the best of her. She was trying to control it, though. So she took a deep breath and bit her tounge. She'd let him have that one, but next time..she would do something. He then apologized, which made it easier for her to keep her mouth shut. She nodded and watched him pull out some items.
She watched as he began to write and spoke aloud what he was writing. She couldn't help but laugh at him. She now figured he probably wasn't the brightest kid. "Want to be a little more obvious?" She wasn't being rude, just joking. "I'm sure the professor would be glad you added that, since you know..no one knows that." It was natural for her to be sarcastic. She laughed a little again.
Calum Ferguson - July 7, 2008 06:13 AM (GMT)
Calum liked sarcasticness. He himself is sometimes a very sarcastic person, but today was different. Today, he was annoyed and to make it more distressing, was this Slytherin girl.
"Yeah, whatever." he said loudly. "Why don't you do this essay for me then? Since you know all your facts?" he said, testily.
Calum passed his quill across the table, towards her.
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 06:23 AM (GMT)
Carly was actually being nice to this boy, and that was rare. He was lucky that he did something to make her laugh or she probably would've been rude. She then heard him reply, actually being rude himself. She then remembered why she was never nice to people at first, because of situations like this. Her tone immediately changed when she caught the quill.
"Do it for you? Who exactly do you think you're talking to?" Carly threw his quill behind her. "I would've offered to help, and you're a very lucky boy that i even had that thought." She paused and gave him a look. "But now you felt the need to run your mouth, and you've ruined that." She shook her head. "You get a Slytherin to be nice for once, and this happens. Learn what's good for you, kid." She slammed her book shut.
Calum Ferguson - July 7, 2008 06:33 AM (GMT)
Calum was taken aback at what she did. Throwing his quill, slamming her book and calling him a 'kid'.
"Calm down, will you?" he said, calmly. "The librarian won't be pleased. By the way, what book have you got there?" he said, getting up and picking up his quill.
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 06:37 AM (GMT)
This kid needed to figure out if he wanted to be nice to her or not. She couldn't keep changing her attitude to fit his. It was getting annoying. "Don't worry, i'm calm." She said, sort of calm. There was still stress in her voice, though.
When he asked about her book, she sighed. For a moment, she forgot about everything that happened. He just had to mention it. She shrugged. "It's on the unforgivable curses." She looked at the cover, wanting to open it again, but didn't. She wanted her mind away from all of that.
She looked up at the boy. "I'm Carly."
Calum Ferguson - July 7, 2008 06:44 AM (GMT)
"Calum. Ravenclaw." he said, only giving as much information as her. "Now, don't even begin to say that I'm not fit to be in Ravenclaw." he warned, grinning. "I know my homework all point to one word, dumb. But, I can be smart when I want to."
He got back to his seat and sat back down again, writing another sentence.
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 06:50 AM (GMT)
Carly was surely shocked to hear he was in Ravenclaw. He certainly didn't seem smart enough to be a Ravenclaw. He took those thoughts right from Carly's mind. She smirked. "When you want to? I thought Ravenclaws were smart no matter what. Whether they liked it or not." She really did have that assumption. She now knew she was wrong.
He began to write another sentence. "What are you writing this time? Vampire's only come out at night?" She smiled coyly at this. She loved to be sarcastic.
Calum Ferguson - July 7, 2008 06:56 AM (GMT)
"Well, you thought wrong then." he said, simply. He looked simply surprised at her sarcasm. "You seem to know what's inside my brain. Are you a seer? I've met one before trying to bash a book in my head. Though, that was not her original intention, it mysteriously seemed like it."
He opened his book on vampires and started to read.
Carly Butank - July 7, 2008 07:28 PM (GMT)
When he asked if she was a seer, she looked at him strangely. So she had a lucky guess and all of a sudden she's a seer? He began to rant on about a time when a seer attacked him with a book. She couldn't help but stare at him, almost confused, while he finished his story.
When he opened his book, the look on her face slowly faded and she shook her head. "I can assure you i'm no seer. And i'm pretty sure i won't be attacking you with a book anytime soon." She laughed slightly. "That is if you decided to be nice." She smirked. She knew she wouldn't hesitate to do anything if he was being rude.
"What year are you?"
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 02:14 AM (GMT)
He looked up.
"Be nice, eh?" he said. "That wouldn't be possible." he said, sarcastically. "Nah, I'm kidding. Only if you are."
He put his head down again.
"I'm a third year. You?" he said.
Carly Butank - July 8, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
Only if she was? That rang through her head. She was hardly ever nice first. He was pretty lucky that he hadn't done anything too bad to her yet. She shook her head when he looked down. He then told her that he was a third year. She was shocked. "That's it? You look much older." He really did. He was pretty cute, but knowing he was so young changed that a bit. He was probably very immature.
"I'm a sixth year." She stated plainly, she was still shocked. She stared at him, trying to figure out how he could possibly be so young.
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 02:45 AM (GMT)
"Many say so." he said, shrugging. "I really don't care."
He looked up from his book and observed her.
"You look exactly your year." he remarked. "Maybe I should skip a few years." he grinned and read again. "Though, I don't think the headmaster would approve of that."
Blane MacLean - July 8, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
Carly smirked at his idea. She thought that would be a good thing, but it would obviously never happen. He kept looking down at his book and it was annoying. "I think that would be smart. Then i wouldn't have to feel so weird for thinking you're cute." She smirked, raising an eyebrow.
She could never help but flirt when it came to a cute guy. She was very forward and never feared rejection. If she got rejected, she'd take the hit and leave it at that.
OOC: Sorry, forgot to switch. lol
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
OOC: 's alright. :)
He looked up and raised an eyebrow, closing his book.
"Was that a compliment?" he asked. "Two, in fact."
He never really got along with Slytherins, except for one or two. He dated one once, but that was all.
"You know, slytherins aren't that bad after all." he said, grinning.
Carly Butank - July 8, 2008 03:04 AM (GMT)
She nodded. "That was indeed a compliment." She smiled at him the decided to open her own book and look through it. He then spoke up again. When he said this, she smiled and looked up. "You right. I never understood why so many hate us." She shrugged. "Yeah, we're a bit rude..but you just got to learn to deal with it."
She stared at him for a few moments, smirking. "You're a bit smarter than i thought."
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 03:30 AM (GMT)
"A bit rude? Are you kidding?" he said sarcastically. He laughed. "Well.. If you want me to act dumb again, I can always do that."
He titled his head towards her book.
"Whatcha reading?"
Carly Butank - July 8, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
She shook her head and rolled her eyes, smirking. "Oh come on, we wouldn't be fun if we weren't rude. The rest of you just have to suck it up." She raised an eyebrow then set her book back on the table. His next question made her laugh a bit. "You know, i'll actually take that smart comment back now." She looked at him. "You already asked me what i was reading." She laughed slightly at him, then looked away.
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 03:40 AM (GMT)
"I guesss not." he said, shrugging. "Right.. So, what are you reading?"
He opened his book back again and started reading.
"Let's just say, I'm a forgetful person." he said.
Carly Butank - July 8, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
He started to read again and she wished he wouldn't. She was about ready to take his book and throw it. That would be un-called for, though. She picked her book up. "I'm just reading up on unforgivable curses a little more." She closed it and looked at the cover. This brought back all her thoughts of the events she didn't want to think of. She sighed and set it back down. "It's a little more interesting than Vampires."
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 03:57 AM (GMT)
"Why don't you read it then?" he said, not looking up. "You know, this book is actually very interesting. They don't like garlic. That's the ooposite of me. I hate onions and like garlic."
He was back to his dumb ways of thinking.
"Unforgivable curses? Do you have to write an essay or something about it?" he asked.
Carly Butank - July 8, 2008 04:11 AM (GMT)
Carly was beginning to see that he was just immature, not dumb. His little remarks he'd make made him seem like he was five. She shook her head. She always ended up with these kids.
"No, i just figured i'd read up on them a little more. Just to..you know, know more." She was hesitant to say that.
Calum Ferguson - July 8, 2008 07:16 AM (GMT)
Calum looked up again, getting dizzy and decided to close it and never read it again.
"Yeah. Usually, when you read books, it's because you want to know more." he remarked sarcastically. "I'm not usually immature, it's just because I have a different emotion everyday. Talk to me some other day and I'll be a bit different. That is, if I'm not feeling the same mood as last time."
He stood up and placed the book back on the shelf and sat back down, grabbing his quill and finishing the last few sentences of his essay.
