Title: Skipping Stones
Description: *Open!*
Samantha Jones - July 7, 2008 03:23 PM (GMT)
It was a warm bright day, the kind that you'd find muggle children playing out in the sprinklers on. But for non-muggle Samantha Jones, it was the perfect day to lay on a rock and look out into the lake. Which was what she was doing actually.
Samantha, or Sammy, was busy thinking about saying sorry to her brother. She hadn't meant to get so mad at him, but she just was. He never listened to her anymore and that really annoyed her. Sammy sat up picked up a smooth stone from a small pile of them. She had collected them earlier. She crossed her legs, and looked out upon the calm surface of the water, she then tossed the stone into the water and it skipped four times, and sank to the bottom. She scowled at it, and fixed the straps on her tank top. Sammy was in one of her moods, and it wasn't a good mood. Her dormmates had wanted her to stay to show them how she got her hair to look like it did.
Like I'd show the little backstabbing b*tches how I look like this. Why should I do that? Sammy thought, brushing her bangs from her eyes. It got her really annoyed that they acted like her friends and then told one of her secrets to a bloody older Slytherin. Not like the older girl had cared, or even understood what they said, but it still annoyed Sammy.
That's what I get for putting my trust in someone other than me. Or Isaac...
Sammy threw another stone and watched it skip, six times this round, and fell into the lake with a splash. Sammy heard someone from behind, stepping out as if they had been watching her the whole time. She turned around and stared at them, pretty smile playing on her lips, "Hello." She said, cheerfully.
April Teagan - July 7, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)
April walked out onto the grounds, a headache from studying and no patience to go and get a headache cure from the hospital wing. It would have to wait until later, because she wasn't in the mood to climb all those stairs. She was a bit lazy, but that never really hurt anyone. The air was crisp for a fal lday, and April wrapped her cloak tighter around her body, to keep the wind out, walking quickly towards the dark lake.
While she walked, she reflected on life at Hogwarts thus far. This morning, there had been some sort of ruckus i nthe Slytherin dorm rooms, which was another reason for April's headache. Girls fighting was never something to keep April in a good mood. As she neared the lake, she noticed that she would not be alone today; there was already a girl perched on a flat rock, and throwing stones into the clear water.
She heard the girl greet her, smiling. "Oh, hello. What are you doing?"
Katherine Towers - July 8, 2008 07:52 AM (GMT)
Katherine walked out into the grounds of Hogwarts, the lush green grass welcoming her gladly. She looked around. Kath saw two Slytherin girls by the lake and walked towards them, thinking she had nothing better to do.
"Hello, Sammy." she said. "And who are you?" she asked, a bit rudely.
April Teagan - July 9, 2008 01:36 AM (GMT)
The girl had been about to speak when another girl appeared practically out of thin air, rudely bursting into thier conversation and demanding who April was. April smirked, not really having a problem, since she herself could be rude at times, and looked away from the other girl, who seemed to be Samyy from the looks of it.
"I'm April," April said sharply, nodding in her direction. "And you are...?"
Katherine Towers - July 9, 2008 03:00 AM (GMT)
She rolled her eyes at the rudeness the girl displayed in payback to hers and smirked.
"I'm Katherine Towers." she said, smiling, her rudeness changing immediately to politeness. "But you can call me Kath or Kat for short."
Her smile faded immediately after introducing herself.
"So, what are you doing here in this fine morning?" Kath asked.
Samantha Jones - July 9, 2008 02:18 PM (GMT)
Samantha smiled at Aprll, "Oh I was just-" But someone cut her off. Samantha snapped her head in the direction of the person, and realized it was Kath.
"Hey Kath this is... oh I guess I don't know." Samantha said, and listened to April introduce herself.
"Mmm, April... that's a pretty name. I'm Samantha Jones, or Sam or like Kath said, Sammy." Samantha shrugged, and tossed another stone out onto the lake. It bounced six time and then sank to the bottom of the lake.
"I'm just doing that, and thinking about the arguement I had with the other girls earlier this morning. I think you had stepped out Kath..." Samantha shrugged, and tucked some hair behind her ear, "It wasn't a serious argument or anything, they were just upset because I wouldn't give them the charms for my hair." Samantha then mumbled, "Not like the spoiled brats deserved them anyway."
April Teagan - July 9, 2008 02:28 PM (GMT)
Katharine seemed to have toned down the rudeness enough, and Samantha sort of reminded April of herself just a bit; kind yet sarcastic and witty, and a bit angry all the time. She sat herself down on the rock besides Samatha and skipped a rock across the glassy lake surface, shattering the calm and creating a set of ripples in the water. Smiling, she turned back to Katharine.
"Well, it's nice to meet you then." She turned to Samantha. "Are you two in Slytherin? Because I did hear an arguement gong on in the girl's dorm room this morning... which is why I had breakfast a bit earlier than usual."
Katherine Towers - July 9, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, I'm a slytherin." she said. "Your hair? So you use a charm. I always wondered how you keep it like that."
She smiled and took a stone, tossing it onto the river. It skiped twice then sank.
Samantha Jones - July 9, 2008 03:39 PM (GMT)
"Yea we are, I didn't think we were THAT loud though. But then again, there's at least five of us crammed in our dorm." Samantha shrugged. She smiled at Kath, "Yea, if I didn't it would be a big poof of hair. Oh and April I'm sorry we interrupted you an all." Samantha apologized, a sweet tone that seemed obviously apologetic. Even though, it really wasn't.
April Teagan - July 9, 2008 11:26 PM (GMT)
April laughed, flipping her hair and tossing a stone in the water as well. Grabbing her wand, she tossed it in the air obnoxiously and eyed the two girls indifferently. Never having seen them before, she didn't know anything about either, except they must be around the same age, or so it seemed to April, anyways.
"Please, interupted me from what? Ignoring people? Perhaps," she said, smirking. "I use a charm for my hair as well. It's so much simpler than those damn Muggle techniques."
Katherine Towers - July 10, 2008 02:33 AM (GMT)
"Well, we're glad we didn't interrupt your daily routine of ignoring poeple then." she said, glaring at the open lake. She then turned to April. "My hair's naturally like this, so I don't really need anything except for a daily brushing."
Kath flicked a strand of hair out of her face.
April Teagan - July 11, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
"well, aren't you the princess," April said, chuckling. She played with her hair absently as she said this. "Anyways, why did you get so angry over hair spells? You could have at least shared your advice, so we wouldn't have beastly looking girls running about."
Samantha Jones - July 18, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)
Samantha watched the exchange between the two girls, and she really hoped that Kath wouldn't get herself into a fight. Samantha hated fights.
"It wasn't really about the hair, I could care less if they knew them. It's just..." Samantha thought of the right way to say it, "They didn't really deserve it. They took my trust and the misused it, so now, they don't deserve it." Samantha said, now sounding like a true bratty slytherin girl.
OOC: Sorry it's short and sorry it took so long!!
Katherine Towers - July 21, 2008 10:39 AM (GMT)
OOC: No problems.
She smiled at April. The first true smile she has ever given anyone. Then turned to Sam.
"What do you mean, they took your trust?" she asked. "What did you entrust on them?"
She knew she was asking a lot of questions, but, she was curious and nothing really stops her from being that way.
Samantha Jones - July 30, 2008 08:47 AM (GMT)
Samantha gave Kath an amused smirk. Sometimes the girl just acted like an excited child who had just been told she was getting a surprise. Questions...
"Oooh... it doesn't matter. It was a lie anyway. Just made me mad that they decided to tell someone. Guess I was smart enough not to tell them anything true. Everything they said just made them sound stupider, and stupider." Samantha couldn't help but let a smile cross her lips while she inspected the black nail polish on her fingernails, and the silver ring she always wore.
Now, that would sound cruel if you didn't know Samantha, but if you did, you wouldn't be surprised. In Samantha's world, it's all about who gets on top. And who that is, had better be Samantha or she'll tear apart anyone who even thinks they got there.
Katherine Towers - August 1, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
Kath felt even more confused at Sam's reply, but shrugged it off.
"I guess." she said.
Kath looked at the lake, it looked so flat and peaceful.
"Ever wondered why the lake is so flat?" she asked.
Samantha Jones - August 4, 2008 12:15 PM (GMT)
Samantha glanced at the smooth lake, and tossed a stone into it. It splashed and caused several ripples in the water. She waited till the water smoothed over to say something, "Dunno. Maybe everything is so far down under the water they don't cause it to move?" Samantha shrugged, "Best I got."
Katherine Towers - August 4, 2008 12:42 PM (GMT)
She grinned.
"I don't have any reasons." she said. Kath wasn't in the mood of talking very much. She felt calm and content.
So, she kept quiet and threw a rock. It bounced twice and sank.
