Description: Lesson #2
Roxane Stalhand - July 8, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
Write down 5 or more defense spells. Its easy so if you don't do it you will get detenion.
Blane MacLean - July 8, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
OOC: Sorry, forgot to switch to Carly. :]
A common defensive spell is Expelliarmus. Most wizards and witches know this one. Its premise is to block or refract an opponent’s spells; however, it can have interesting side-effects when mixed with other incantations.
Another one that is somewhat common is Expecto Patronum. This incantation creates a Patronus, which usually takes the form of an animal and protects the spell-caster from Dementors.
Impedimentia is yet another one. This one isn't the smartest to use, but it helps when you're in a tough situation. This is just a simple stunning spell.
Riddikulus is also used occasionally by students. It renders a boggart ineffective by making it silly. It requires the power of mind of the spell caster
The fifth spell is a very simple one. Finite Incantatum, which stops any currert spells.
Jessie Phoenixfire - July 9, 2008 04:37 AM (GMT)
Expelliarmus. Used to knock opponents wands out of each other's hands.
Stupify. Stunning spell.
Expecto Patroum. Creates a whisp of white light from the end of your wand. A Corporal Patronus takes the shape of an animal. Both are used to stop dementors, and both require a happy thought to conjure.
Finite Incantatum Stops all current spells being used.
Impedimentia Like Stupify, a Stunning spell, though a little more tricky to use.
(OOC: Is there any website i can go to to look this up, so i dont have to keep looking back through the movies or (Sorry Carly) Borrowing someone else's idea?)
Carly Butank - July 9, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
OOC: Haha, it's fine!
http://www.pojo.com/harrypotter/spelist.shtml and www.kidsreads.com/HP07/content/spellbook.asp are two good ones. I feel like a loser knowing that. Haha, if you go to google and just type like harry potter spells, you'll find stuff. :]
