Appearance
Cornelius has hair that exposes his age the instant someone lays eyes on him, this meaning his hair is a bright white, even though it has grown incredibly thick. His face has numerous lines, not wrinkles which he never calls them, however many give an air that Cornelius has seen a good yet busy life. His has a beard and mustache that are a similar color, large side-burns run down the sides of his face His cheek bones are very low-set, making him appear sullen. His face seemed to be put together from pieces completely different. Hooded eyes of a dark brown help frame his face. His chin is actually quite small but this is concealed by his facial hair, his mouth met a similar fate.
Cornelius is not very tall, in fact he is shrinking, even though he wouldn't admit it. He stands at a height of 5,6, with arms and legs that match his height. As his friends say his feet look as though they should belong to one of his female students. But at his age, one tends to care less about there appearance.
Personality
First of all, Cornelius has what he would call a sense of humor so brilliant that others are often offended by it because they don't understand when he is joking and when he is serious, Average people would say he knows sarcasm so well that many people don't know the difference between serious and joking because there isn't much of a difference. As stated above Cornelius would disagree as he almost always does..
Cornelius is a wise old man who was go slightly senile and who enjoys taking the mickey out of his students. He would say that he is a many who is getting on in years, who is viewed as unhinged only because others have yet to understand the wisdom he has acquired. Few believe that this Professor was once in Ravenclaw, replacing it for Slytherin, this is a view he sometimes encourages. but other times denies. He has the willingness to learn of that of a Ravenclaw but the arrogance of a Slytherin, he had to convince the Sorting Hat to place him in Ravenclaw.
To most he comes off vindictive and distant. Few are close enough to him that he softens this front. As many know he is always willing to answer a question or help a student if they show signs of trouble, perhaps he answers a little sarcastically at times but it is never mean-spirited. He has a place in his heart for his own house, and those are often the ones who come to question him.
Cornelius isn't too afraid to show his emotions, as he doesn't cry, he becomes very apparent when he is in a fowl mood but a less so when the matter is personal. When he is in one of those moods he can be found sulking in his office, with his back turned to the door.
(Note: I will give more information on Cornelius as I rp, he is not this shallow I just wanted to get this done.)
History
Cornelius was born in Dublin Ireland, and raised there for most of his life, receiving his letter from Hogwarts at the expected age. His parents were both Muggles but were thrilled at the prospect of their son learning ‘magic tricks’ as his father would put it. He was an only child, and his parents were always grateful that he was a wizard, ignoring what others would say about their son and his ‘strange obsession with parlor tricks’. Cornelius later realized that this was the thing that made him succeed in school.
His years at Hogwarts very fairly average, maybe with a few more arguments with the teachers than you normal student, a few more detentions for cheek, but otherwise not too different. He made a few close friends along the way, only keeping in contact with a small number of them after his years at Hogwarts. He did take the customary trip around the world after his stay at school, having many a fine adventure with his friend Demetrius Eros, the two parted ways once the trip was over, hoping to stay in contact but also to make their place in the wizarding world.
After many years of trying various jobs, places of residence, and tasting the finer things of life, Cornelius returned to Ireland, there to stay for the remainder of his life, by this time he was around 45 years of age.
Now at age 52, he feels as though he has seen enough of the world and the things it has to offer, he lives a quiet life, having only one child because he could never stay in a relationship. His daughter Varia is now taking her turn to view the world, she visits her father and writes him letters and visits him as much as she can. Cornelius tries not to hold on too tight but whenever he receives something from her, his spirits get quite high, but he can be seen drinking if she hasn’t written him for a while.
