Title: peaceful
Description: open

Edith Birch - July 8, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
Edith wandered amongst the crowded shelves of the library, enjoying the solitude and peaceful quiet that surrounded her. Rounding the corner past the restricted section into the arithmancy book area, she thoughtfully pulled a large volume from the shelf, and sat down with it on a hard, straight-backed chair in the corner, immersing herself in the complex mathematical equations that she was sure Professor Vector would quiz them on later in the week. Hearing a slight scuffle behind her, she turned her head slightly to the side, observing the person standing behind her. Not knowing how long they had stood there and not really caring, Edith turned back to her book and said, looking down at the pages, "What do you want?"
She waited expectantly as the person paused before answering.

Calum Ferguson - July 9, 2008 12:32 PM (GMT)
Calum walked inside the library reluctantly. It had a lifeless feeling that he felt uncomfortable in, but the library was where he will find such thing as "Quidditch Through the Ages" or "Voyages with Vampires".
He walked into the Care of Magical Creatures section and got out a book on dragons. He opened it and walked blindly, trying to find a seat. He stopped when a girl was in front of him, thus blocking him from making his way. She sat down and he was free to make his way again, but he didn't start moving.
"What do you want?"the girl said.
He closed his book and turned to look at the reading girl.
"Well that's rather a rude question to ask, is it not?" he said, in a formal expression.

Edith Birch - July 9, 2008 01:24 PM (GMT)
Edith looked at the boy, she recognised him as a Ravenclaw younger than herself, and smirked.
"Well, yeah, if you want to get technical about it," she said, turning to look him in the eye, "But at least it's not as predictable as every single other conversation starter around here." She waited for an answer, tapping her hand impatiently on her book cover - Edith knew she was being rude, but she always found that the people able to get past her exterior bluntness were the ones worth being friends with.

Calum Ferguson - July 9, 2008 02:04 PM (GMT)
Calum observed this Ravenclaw girl, she looked a bit like a slytherin and rude as he soon found out.
"You're right, I guess." he said. "The people I bump into always say 'hi'. It gets a bit boring too, but at least they're not as rude as this." he grinned and sat on the chair opposite her.

Edith Birch - July 9, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
Edith smiled as the boy sat down opposite her - she was right (as far as she was concerned), rudeness really did sort out the trash from the treasure. Exactly why she didn't get on with all those Hufflepuffs - just too friendly for their own good.
"Well then, maybe you need some new friends if yours are boring you." Edith said, smirking slightly at the boy, who obviously wasn't used to talking to people like her.

Calum Ferguson - July 9, 2008 03:22 PM (GMT)
"What are you suggesting?" he asked, raising his eyebrow.
This girl is tactical, he thought. Suspicious mind.

OOC: sorry, it's so short

Edith Birch - July 10, 2008 06:18 PM (GMT)
Edith smirked at the boy, ignoring his question and sticking out her hand firmly.
"Edith. Edith Birch. I won't bore you, don't worry." She said shortly, mirroring his raised eyebrow and not letting her gaze break from his.

OOC: no worries, it happens!

Calum Ferguson - July 11, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
He shook her hand as she held it out.
"Calum Ferguson. Third year Ravenclaw." he said. "And I won't bore you. What year are you in? By the way, you haven't answered my last question." he said, testily.

Edith Birch - July 11, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
"Fifth." Edith grinned at Calum, he obviously had enough Ravenclaw wit to give her a decent conversation, and was pretty stubborn too - a fabulous mixture, if she said it herself.
"And you're a Ravenclaw. If you're any good at being true to your honour, you should already be able to work out the answer, shouldn't you?" Edith raised an eyebrow, still smiling, sure that this Ferguson boy could understand that she was winding him up - unless, of course, he was a dimwit who only got into Ravenclaw by being too self-centered, cowardly and inbred to get into a different house - something which rarely happened, and she hoped was not the case in Calum.

Calum Ferguson - July 12, 2008 07:48 AM (GMT)
"Yes, I know, thank you very much, I'm a Ravenclaw. I don't need to be told again. I'm actually very familiar with the fact." he said. "What? You haven't got any suggestions?"
He grinned.

((OOC: 'dimwit who only got into Ravenclaw by being too self-centered, cowardly and inbred to get into a different house'?? lol ))

Edith Birch - July 12, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
"Well kid, you've surprised me. Obviously you're not too stupid." Edith looked at him, keeping her mouth in a straight, solemn line but unable to stop her eyes from twinkling a little. "There's no point asking, I guess we're already kind of pals. In a twisted, weird kind of way." Edith grinned, unable to keep her sudden cheerfulness from showing.

Calum Ferguson - July 13, 2008 04:06 AM (GMT)
"Kid, now, am I?" he said, humourously offended. "I'm in Ravenclaw, and if you know what Ravenclaws are capable of, you needn't need to think that obviously silly thought."
He grinned as he caught her eyes twinkling.
"I guess we are." he said, smiling back. "I handle rude people pretty well, don't you think?"
He laughed slightly at his own joke.

Edith Birch - July 16, 2008 05:59 PM (GMT)
"Hm, well, who would've thought. Friend-making in the library. Whatever next?" Edith smiled, putting her book back on the table, as it had been crushing her lap slightly under it's heavy weight.
"So what are you in here to read about?" she asked, absent-mindedly thumbing the pages through, not looking at what she was doing as she smiled at Calum.

OOC - SO sorry about the delay, my computer crashed and i just had to pay a bomb to get it fixed. sorry for not warning you, but it was really sudden! :)

Calum Ferguson - July 17, 2008 03:54 AM (GMT)
OOC: no worries. I did get a bit bored, but everyone gets bored at one time.. :D

"Friend-making in the library, indeed." he said, grinning. "What about enemy-making?"
He opened the cover of the book on the table in front of him.
"I'm reading about Dragons." he said simply. "Interesting, but very boring. That's why I stopped reading it."
He shut it.
"What are you reading?" he asked.

Edith Birch - July 17, 2008 06:54 AM (GMT)
Edith closed the book in front of her, showing Calum the title. "A detailed look at Arithmancy. Possibly the dullest book ever written, but it's my best subject and I like the practice." Edith said, looking at Calum cheerfully. "And yes, enemy making is one of my fortes - although I don't usually do it amongst the shelves!" Edith grinned.
"So why dragons?" she asked, pushing her hair behind her ear where it was flopping into her face.

Calum Ferguson - July 18, 2008 02:42 AM (GMT)
"Arithmancy, huh?" he said. "It's a good subject, I guess. I don't really have a favourite."
He grinned.
"Funnily enough, I don't have any enemies.." he said in wonder. "Although, Sylence Clandestine better watch herself, because one day I'm going to prank on her. A better explanation would be, she's a great annoyance."
He smiled.
"Dragons, because I thought they were interesting, but turns out, not very interesting." he said.

Edith Birch - July 18, 2008 07:15 AM (GMT)
"No enemies?" Edith raised an eyebrow. "Sylence Clandestine ought to watch her back, then, if all your wrath will be taken out on her."
Edith smiled, fingering the smooth cover of the book lovingly. "Still, it's always good to get into the library every now and then. It's usually quiet as well, unless some giggling huffepuff girls turn up or something."

Calum Ferguson - July 19, 2008 05:34 AM (GMT)
"And, of course, her sister, Forrest Clandestine." he said. "Yes, I was thinking of some ridiculously, hilarious plans, of which I never did because it was either too mean or too dificult to do."
He smiled.
"I never liked the library, it's too quiet and lifeless.." he said.

Edith Birch - July 19, 2008 07:33 AM (GMT)
"Ah yes, but I spend all my free time in here. And I'm certainly not quiet and lifeless. You just need to find somewhere that Winters, the librarian, won't see you, and you can be as noisy as you want." Edith smirked, "I mean, we're not exactly being quiet, are we?"

Calum Ferguson - July 19, 2008 09:00 AM (GMT)
He laughed.
"No, no exactly." he said. "As noisy as I want? Surely, we can't play exploding snap in here?"
He grinned.
"So, how was your holidays?" he asked.

Edith Birch - July 19, 2008 01:04 PM (GMT)
"Holidays? Oh, just the usual. Went home and got ignored for a couple of weeks. My family doesn't really believe in the whole wizarding thing." Edith shrugged, her muggle family didn't bother her much, but it got a little annoying after a while.
"What about yours?" she asked, scratching her earlobe surreptitiously.

Calum Ferguson - July 20, 2008 05:34 AM (GMT)
"Ignored?" he asked. "Mine was good. I went to places.. Met a Slytherin girl who lives right in front of our new house and dealed okay with my idiot brother."
He sisghed.
"It's a wonder he got into Ravenclaw.." he said.
