Title: Good and Broken
Description: Blane
Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
Davina sighed loudly as she approached the lake. She hadn't been tired that night , feeling a tad bit homesick, and decided a nice walk would make her feel better. She walked over towards the edge of the lake and sat down. She heard a loud SNAP when she sat.
"Oh Bother..my glasses." She said to herself hoping they didn't break.
She moved slightly to get her glasses out of her back pocket. "Oh great they are in two pieces." She said sarcastically. She sighed loudly again and took out her wand.
"Now what was that spell again?" She asked herself outloud. "Repairio? No that wasn't it." She kept mumbling the wrong spell while waving her wand.
"Ugh I give up." She said tossing her glasses behind her. She heard it something and peered behind. "Oh I'm so sorry. I didn't know anyone was there." She said with a sympathetic look. She stood up quickly and inched over. She was squinting and couldn't really make out who it was. Definitely noone she knew. It didn't help that it was dark. She couldn't even tell the color of their robes to tell what house they were in.
Blane MacLean - July 11, 2008 02:57 AM (GMT)
Blane had been out wandering the grounds. He would have much rather been inside, but him and his friend got into a bit of an altercation and he didn't feel like being around him at all. That was more for his friends sake, though. If one more word had been said, Blane probably would've been throwing hexes at him left and right. He shook his head at these thoughts as he approached the lake. He stopped and gazed out onto it, his blue eyes shining from the moonlight. He shoved his hands into his pockets and sighed. He was more calm now and found himself feeling more upset than angry.
He didn't notice the girl sitting in front of him until she had spoken up. He was surprised by this, especially when she threw something over her shoulder and it hit him in the stomach. He scoffed a bit. The girl must've heard this because she turned around and apologized, quickly standing up. It was dark and he couldn't make out who she was. He bent down and picked up the broken glasses, holding it in front of himself. "I don't think throwing these are gonna help fix them."
He was not so rude which actually surprised himself. He was in a bad mood, but felt no need to be obnoxious. He tried to look at her robes in the faint moonlight, but couldn't make them out.
Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 03:04 AM (GMT)
Davina was hoping he wasn't angry. It seemed like a lot of people in this school had a bit of a short temper, and her being so clumsy around said people wasn't always that good. She bumped into someone the other day and she was sure they were going to hex her to her death.
"Oh Im sorry." She repeated with a slight laugh when she realizied she had repeated herself. "Um, yea I forgot the spell and I sorta just gave up and got a little aggitated so I tossed them." She shrugged slightly. She was still squinting trying to make out his face. At least she knew it was a guy based on teh sounding of his voice.
"I'm Davina by the way. Davina Ashford." She said introducing herself. She extended her hand not realizing she was standing close to him and wound up brushing her hand against him.
"Oh darn. Sorry again." She said making a face at her own stupid clumsiness. "Not only am I pretty much blind but I'm overly clumsy." She said chuckling at herself.
Blane MacLean - July 11, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
The girl had then repeated her apology. This made him laugh slightly. She sounded kind of nervous and he wasn't sure why. He shrugged. "Don't worry, i don't think that getting hit in the stomache by glasses is really going to hurt me." He examined the glasses while the girl continued to speak, saying she forgot the spell. He thought that maybe she was young.
The girl then introduced herself. It was a name he's never heard, but he liked it. When she stuck out her hand, she hit his. He listened in silence as she laughed nervously and apologized again. "It's alright. Do you really need to apologize for everything?" He smirked, taking the girls hand and shaking it. "I'm Blane MacLean." He let go and then pulled out his wand, casually pointing it at the glasses. "Reparo." The glasses repaired themselves and he handed them back to her.
"Is that the spell you were talking about?"
Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 03:41 AM (GMT)
Davina laughed at herself a little more. "I always seem to be apologizing for all the clumsy things I do. It only seems right." Davina smiled at him. She shook his hand. "Well it's very nice to meet you." She said whole heartedly.
"Oh yes that was the spell. You know that's the only spell I can never remember, yet it's the one I always need to use." She said shrugging somewhat. "I don't get how my memory works, must be as clumsy as me." She smiled again. Davina put her glasses back on her face and blinked a few times, things finally coming back into focus. She peered over at his robe, slytherin. He seemed pretty nice compared to all the other slytherin's she seemed to encounter.
"I'm in gryffindor by the way." She mentioned. She hoped it didn't matter but to some people it did.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 02:12 AM (GMT)
When she said that she could never remember that spell, Blane flashed a cunning grin. "Well next time you need it, just think of this face and im sure it'll come back." He knew that sounded really conceited, which he kind of meant it to be. He couldn't really help it. She seemed like a nice girl and he didn't want to scare her away just yet.
Blane couldn't really see in the dark, so he couldn't see her robes. He hated his night vision. He felt almost blind at night. He shook those thoughts away when she put on her glasses and looked at him. If there was something he could see, it was her face. He could tell she saw his robes. He also took notice to how cute she was, and she was strangely still cute with her glasses. He was surpised at his thoughts. He never was really attracted to girls with glasses.
She announced she was in Gryffindor and he frowned. He knew he shouldn't let that change his thoughts, but he couldn't help it. He was just brought up that way. He figured that she wasn't Pureblood either. He didn't know what to do. "Oh.." That was all he could think to say. He then glanced around awkwardly.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)
Davina still kept her smile on. "You should know that, I'm muggleborn too." She said somewhat proudly. She didn't care if she wasn't pureblood, but she had a feeling she did. She could feel the awkwardness settle in and she didn't like it. She hated awkward situations. She was a bubbly person, and she was never embarrassed to say what was on her mind.
"Are you one of those slytherin boys who only befriend people who are pureblood and/or in slytherin?" She asked her smile slanting as it slightly resmebled a smirk. She really should think before speaking sometimes.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
Blane looked back at her and saw she was still smiling. He kind of took that as a good sign, maybe she was pureblood. Those hopes were quickly shattered when she mentioned she was a mudblood. He shook his head and looked down, the awkwardness getting more intense. He wanted to be friends with her, but felt like he couldn't. It didn't help that she was as cute as she was.
He looked back up. "Look, it's not you.." He started off, then feeling like he was breaking up with her. He smiled slightly at her. "Believe me, you're cute and i would love to talk to you." His smile slowly faded back into a frown. Normally, he wouldn't even bother explaining himself. He felt different about this. "But, i was brought up to hate mud-" he caught himself and sighed. "muggleborns. My dad wants me to be a DE, and i want to be." He shook his head. "It just wouldn't be right for me to get close to a muggleborn."
He hated to say it. He almost wished there was some way around it. "I'm sorry.." he sounded sincere, too.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
She couldn't help but smile more when he called her cute. Davina rolled her eyes somewhat playfully. "What kind of Slytherin are you? Aren't you supposed to live on the edge, defy the rules. Or some mumbo jumbo like that." She teaed. She honestly never undertood the whole puer blood thing. It didn't matter at all to her. He seemed nice, and was attractive from what she could make out.
"Like anyone is going to find out you're even talking to me now?" she said in a questioning tone. She shrugged, she didn't care that he almost called her a mudblood. He caught himself and that meant something to her. She didn't even care about his future plans that he mentioned. She seemed to always somehow always wind up attracted to the bad boys. In the muggle world or this one it didn't seem to make a difference.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
He almost felt offended when she asked what kind of Slytherin he was. He wanted to actually start acting they way he should to her when she said that. It showed on his face too, he was sporting a soft glare. He then looked past it and realized what she really meant. She just wanted him to talk to her. His glare then turned to a smirk. "You really want me to stay, eh?"
Her next question made him think. She was right, no one would know. His father kept popping into his mind. Him and Trey. They were basically his mentors for being a DE. He couldn't help but think how disappointed they'd be if they found out he was talking to her. He felt like they somehow would find out, too.
He then nodded at her. "I guess i could stay for a bit." He felt awkward again before asking his next question. "Would you mind..not really mentioning this though?" He felt bad. "It's nothing against you, i just.." He paused and sighed. "I don't know."
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 02:57 AM (GMT)
Davina agin rolled her eyes, still smiling of course. It always took a lot to get her to stop. "It's just my tainted blood." She halfly joked, since that was pretty much what it was. "No, I get it. I wont say anything. "You're lucky, I don't kn0ow anyone who would really care." She said peering up at him. She only knew a couple of gryffindor people. She wouldn't randomly go up to them saying oh hey guess who was just with me. She chuckled slightly at her thoughts.
"And yea I really want you to stay. Why wouldn't I want someone who looks like you to stay." She said slightly smirking again. She was an obvious, horrible flirt but she couldn't help it. She always seemed to do it.
"Now why exactly are you being so ice to me?Excuse me for saying so, but you definitely don't seem like type who would be nice to someone like me." She said raising an eyebrow.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 03:19 AM (GMT)
Blane smiled softy. "I guess i am a lucky guy then." He raised an eyebrow at her. He just hoped she wouldn't meet anyone either. He then noticed she paused to think for a few moments. He could only imagine what she thought about. He could ask, but that may be too forward.
He then smirked when she said she wanted him to stay. It was cute how she flirted. It was obvious that she just tried really hard. He figured it wasn't too natural fo her. "I don't blame you." He was too cocky for his own good.
He pondered her next question for a bit. He himself wasn't even sure of that. He shrugged. "Well you're right there, i'm not that type. So you should consider yourself lucky." He smirked and then it faded when he thought about it. "I guess i was just upset about a fight i just got into. I didn't feel like having to deal with anyone else. I felt no need to be mean to you." He paused. "Now if i knew right away that you weren't a pureblood, it might've been different. But you seemed too nice..anc cute to just change my attitude so abrutly." He smirked.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 03:24 AM (GMT)
Davina couldn't help but blush slightly. She smiled widely at him. "Hmm so I do consider myself lucky." She said and then podered for a moment. She wondered what would happen after they talked tonight. Would he ever talk to her again? Would he act mean towards her? Her smile faded somewhat but was still visible.
"So after tonight,..are you never going to talk to me again?" She asked. She wanted to know. Shew knew obviously not when people were around, but she didn't want to just talk to him tonight and then never again.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 03:34 AM (GMT)
Blane smirked at her comment then stared at her. He noticed that she stopped to think again. She seemed to do that a lot. He just waited. It was times like these when he wished he could really read minds. She then spoke up, sounding like this was what she's been thinking about.
He was confused by her question. He knew what she asked, but didn't know what to say. He would want to, but wouldn't want to make it a habit. If they talked too much, he might accidentally talk to her around other people. That would be a mess. He shrugged. "I guess we'll have to see how this goes. I mean, i probably won't around other people. No offense of course." He then paused, taking a deep breath. "I just don't want to get too use to talking to you i guess.."
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 03:43 AM (GMT)
"Offence taken." she semi joked. It did hurt that because of the fact that she wasn't a pure blood he couldn't speak to her around anyone, that it was something to be embarrassed or get in trouble with someone about. She continued to smile though. She would get him to want to talk to her somehow. She wasn't exactlt sure how she would go about this but she would.
"Well I'll have you know that I am an incredibally fun person to know. And that everyone loves me." She joked as she smiled widely at him. "So future de or not, I know you will too." She laughed slightly.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 03:55 AM (GMT)
Blane wanted to be as nice to her as possible, but was hesitant. He'd be nice, of course..just not as nice as he would a pureblood. He sighed when she said offense taken. That made him feel worse. She was a nice girl, and he didn't feel right doing this to her. He had to, though.
He smirked when her tone changed. He was glad that she didn't hate him too much. "I wouldn't doubt it. You'd seem to be the kind of girl that knows how to have a good time." Many thoughts raced through his head when he said that. He always had those bad thoughts. He chuckled at himself then turned his attention back at her. "Hm, we'll see about that." He knew it would be a good challenge for her.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 04:05 AM (GMT)
"Oh really." she said once he said that he'd see. She tcrept her arm to go inside her robes to take out her wand as slowly as possible for him not to notic she was glad it was dark now. He couldn't see what she was doing to well that was for sure.
"I wonder, Are you ticklish?" She asked. But without giving him time to answer she said, "Rictusempra " Raiing her wand up with a flick. "Well I think you are." she said laughing somewhat.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 04:18 AM (GMT)
Blane nodded while smirking when she said oh really. "You better try your hardest. I'm not the easiest kid to get through." That was very true. It wasn't like it was impossible, just very difficult. He took pride in that. He never let his guard down and that was for the better. He saw her hand moving slowly in the dark, but he wasn't sure what she was doing.
He didn't think it was anything too much, so he ignored it. He stared past her onto the lake again. He was kind of glad he had someone to keep his mind off of his friend for now. She then spoke again and he looked back at her. Ticklish? He was confused. He didn't think he was. She, of course, threw a spell at him. He felt himself being tickled and it wasn't controllable. He began to laugh out loud. He couldn't stop. He held his sides and bent over. "Stop.." He could barely get it out.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 04:22 AM (GMT)
Davina took the spell off quickly. "Sorry.." She mumbled with a wide smile. She wanted to laugh but decided to hold itt in. "Eh you're tough to get through huh?" She asked looking up at him. "Well how does someone get through to you hmm?" She asked kneeling down at Blane who was now on the floor because of her spell. She wanted to asked about teh fight with his friend, but felt it was none of her business. Besdies if he wanted to talk about that then he would.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
When she finally took the spell off, he found himself on the ground. He took a deep breath and frowned. He was kind of mad. In the back on his mind he knew it was a joke, but he wanted to get her back. If he did though, it would be much worse. It took a lot for him to refrain. He then sat up.
"Honestly, most people don't. Only a few have, and to tell you the truth..i don't know how they did it." He shrugged. He was still kind of mad about the spell she just sent at him, but tried to forget it. He looked away.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 04:37 AM (GMT)
Davina rolled her eyes. "I said I was sorry." she said looking at him. "Look at the expression on your face. As though I like punched you or something. It was just a little funny tickle spell." she said with half a smile. She inched a little closer towards him gave him a fake sad puppy dog face.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
He didn't answer her at first. She then moved a bit closer to him, making the puppy dog face. He rolled his eyes a bit. He hated when people did that. It barely ever worked on him, unless it was with a girl he really liked. He barely knew Davina. "I just don't appreciate mudbloods throwing spells at me." He realized after he finished that he let that word slip.
He closed his eyes for a few seconds, then opened them. His voice was a bit more calm now. "Listen. It's probably just not a good idea to do that. You're lucky i didn't try something back." He wasn't trying to sound mean when he said that, but almost sincere. He wouldn't want to hurt her.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
She moved back a bit and looked at him. She had a blank expression on her face as she looked at him. "Try not to use that word, just for the night." she began. She looked down. "It's really hurtful. I don't think you realize how much it is." she added. She looked back up at him only this time it wasn't somefake puppy dog sad face she had on, she really looked sad.
She tried to quickly wipe it off and smiled. "Well then now I know not to do that again." she added trying to sound as cheerful as possible.
Blane MacLean - July 13, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
Blane really felt bad when she mentioned that the word hurt. He figured it did. That's why purebloods always used it. They didn't deserve to be called anything but. He wiped those thoughts away and nodded. "I can try. It does slip sometimes though." She truly looked sad for a few moments.
She quickly changed it though. He could tell that she was the type of girl that always hid her feelings. He was like that sometimes, but not like this. If he was mad, he'd make sure everyone knew. "Yes, please don't." He signed again and looked at the lake. "So what brings you out here?"
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 05:02 AM (GMT)
Davina kept on her smile. She didn't need him feeling sorry for her or anything. She was sure it read in her eyes though, but decided not to think of it. "Well I couldn't sleep. I'm sort of home sick." she admitted. "I normally get like this when I think about home too much." Davina said with a shrug. After she had a good home, and a great family of course she would miss it.
Blane MacLean - July 14, 2008 02:07 PM (GMT)
Blane actually laughed when he heard Davina say that. He found that very strange that someone could miss being home with their families and what not. This was his favorite time of year, when he didn't have to be home. He then remembered that most families weren't like his. "I wish i knew how that felt."
He shook his head, thinking of all the times he wished he had a different family. "I never miss being home. I'd never go back if i had the choice." He dazed off for a few moments, thinking about it.
Davina Ashford - July 14, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
Davina looked at him curiously. Why on Earth would he never want to go home? She realized not all families were as loving as hers. "Why?" she asked him simply. She wasn't sure if she should, it wasn't really her busniess but she was curious and she always had a tendecy to ask what was on her mind anyway.
Blane MacLean - July 14, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
Blane saw her look at him curiously. He already knew what she was going to ask, but wasn't sure if he wanted her to. He was preparing himself for what he should say. He didn't want to make his family sound too screwed up, although they were. He felt almost dumb when he explained it to people.
"It's kind of hard to explain. My family just isn't..close." That was the only word he could think to explain it. "My parents don't like each other. My dad's a DE and my mom is against it. The only reason why they're together is because my mom got pregnant with me." He looked away. He always felt guilty about that. He always thought it was his fault his family was so messed up.
"My mom is basically insane because she has to stay at home constantly because my dad always out. I barely ever talk to my dad anymore, unless it's about DE stuff. I only talk to my mom when i'm home, and that's barely. I've never gotten one letter from them just asking me how i was.." He felt really stupid now. He just basically spilled his whole life to this girl he barely knew. He sighed.
Davina Ashford - July 14, 2008 04:43 PM (GMT)
Davina looked up at him. She felt bad for him but she didn't want to show it. Some people didn't like it when people took pity on them. "Well you know it's your fault or anything." she said with out thinking. It really wasn't though. It seemed like if His dad wasn't a DE than maybe they would be closer.
"Lot's of families have problemss you know, even without the magical ones." She said with a shrug.
"You know it's easier to talk to someone you barely know, or to talk to someone you don't like. Because you don't care if they judge you. You might not even see the person again, you don't care what they think." Davina added. She thought maybe he might be a little wigged out he just spilled a lot of information on her, and he just met her.
Blane MacLean - July 14, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
Blane couldn't help but think how strange this girl was. Not neccesarily in a bad way, but it was as if she could read his mind. She said the same exact things that were in his mind. He shook his head. "I really think it is my fault, though. You don't understand. Who's else would it be? If it weren't for them being forced to get married because of me being born, they could be out with different people and much happier." He paused then took a deep breath. He was starting to get mad just thinking about it. "I don't even care about the happiness of myself. I'd rather see the rest of my family happy before me." He didn't care about himself as much as he came off to. He, of course, did in some ways..but not with that.
"You're right there, though." He nodded, half-laughing. "I can't talk to most of my friends about this. Not that i care what they all think about me, it's just that..they don't care too much to listen to it all." He knew his friends all cared about him, but they didn't like to worry about other peoples problems. He didn't either, so he understood.
Trey Raynes - July 14, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
"Well there I'm not completely useless right? You were able to dump out all the stuff you have in your head." Davina said with a smile. She was good at this, litenting to peoples problems. She normally knew the right thing to say or what they were probably thinking. And she loved helping people, especially when they were down.
"Well you shouldn't think it was your fault? I mean there are a lot things that could be different that would make it better. If your dad wasn't DE then, maybe him and your mom would be closer. Or maybe if your mom wasn't against it." She said looking at him. "It's not your fault you were born and this stuff happened to occur after. Yu had no control over that." She said. She didn't like the fact that he thought it wa his own fault his family was like that.
Blane MacLean - July 15, 2008 05:48 AM (GMT)
Blane smiled at her. She was pretty useful. If it weren't for her, he probably would've never talked about that. It made him feel better. It wasn't just that, but she made him feel better. Just being there with him. He was forgetting everything that happened with his friend. His thoughts always seemed to be interrupted with the fact that she's a mudblood. His smile faded. He wished it didn't matter. But it does..it does A LOT.
He sighed and she continued to talk. Talking about it not being his fault kind of made him mad. He hated that, it WAS his fault and he was convinced of it. Then he calmed down, realizing that she was just trying to make him feel better. "You know, no one's ever made me look at it that way.." He smiled a bit. His mind began to change. Maybe it wasn't all his fault. "You may be right. Just maybe." Thinking of that just made him hate his parents a little more. He clenched his fists. For once, he was caring about his happiness.
Davina Ashford - July 15, 2008 05:53 AM (GMT)
"You know when you said before you don't care about your happiness?" She began. "It shouldn't be like that. You know, you should care if you're happy or not." She said with a slight shrug. "You can't just blame youself for everything that's happened in your life you know." Davina smiled at him. She knew that her being a muggleborn was in the way of things, and probably meant they couldn't get close, but she felt like this was good. He was opening up to her and it didn't seem like he regretted it.
Blane MacLean - July 15, 2008 04:13 PM (GMT)
Blane nodded. "I know, it's just hard. That's how my parents always kind of put it. That everything was my fault. I know they care about me, they just don't know how to show it.." He trailed off for a moment, thinking. He wished everything was different. "But strangely, you just made me realize something. And realizing this made me care about my happiness for once. Even if it is just a little bit."
Blane stared out onto the lake. He couldn't help but wonder what this girl did to make him feel this way. He was happy. He hasn't really felt this way about things in a long time. He looked back at her, and stared into her eyes. He thought for a moment. He then smiled and leaned in and kissed her. He then quickly pulled away, not sure of why he did it. He just looked around.
Davina Ashford - July 15, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
Davina smiled. She was happy that now he cared about his own happiness, she was also happy that she made him feel that way. Maybe he could actually look past her being muggleborn. She quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Of course he wouldn't, it was a big thing in the life he was living. She turned her head to face him and she saw him looking at him. She smiled. She was about to ask why was he looking at her for, but she didn't get the chance.
She felt his lips pressed against hers. She didn't even have a chance to react. As fast as that happened he pulled away faster. She sat there confused. Why did he just kiss her? "Did..did you just kiss me?" She asked. She was pretty much in shock. She wasn't sure if he even meant to do that.
Blane MacLean - July 15, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
When he kissed her, he could tell she was shocked. She didn't do anything before he pulled away. As he looked around, he glanced at her. Her face was still shock and she just stared at him. Blane looked back at her and gave her a small smirk. Her next question made him chuckle. "Well, um..i believe i did." He himself even sounded confused. He really didn't know why he did it. It just felt right. It was almost as if he had no control over it either.
"Sorry if that offended you or something.." His voice trailed off. He was sure it didn't. Most girls didn't get offended when he kissed them. Most girls loved it. He smirked to himself thinking about that.
Davina Ashford - July 15, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
Davina was still confused but couldn't help but smile when she saw his smirk. "No obviously I'm not offended. I'm just really confused." Davina said. She thought about only alittle earlier. "I mean you didn't even want to talk to me because I'm muggleborn and now you kiss me?" She said in a questioningly tone. "Why did you?"
Carly Butank - July 15, 2008 04:49 PM (GMT)
Blane was kind of expecting that answer to come. He had no idea why she would be offended. He hated to be cocky, but he knew she'd like it. Blane nodded at her next question. He also saw that coming. He was hoping it wouldn't though. He didn't want to explain it. He hated to tell people that they made him happy. It was tough.
He took a deep breath then looked down for a few moments. Looking back at her, he looked confused. "I don't know. Of course it was really wrong of me. And it's still wrong that i'm sitting out here with you.." He paused then sighed. "But you made me feel..good. About myself and everything."
Davina Ashford - July 15, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
Davina couldn't help it but her smile widened. "Ah so are you actually admitting that someone who isn't pureblood actually did something good and made you feel good?" She said with a small laugh. "Well I am in shock." She said. She didn't want to admit it but she did like him kissing her. She also had her mind wander, what would happen to him if the wrong person found out about it.
