Title: Bright Stars
Description: [OPEN]
Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
Davina sat in the Astronomy tower gazing out at the night sky. She smiled as she watched the stars. She was feeling rather homesick and couldn't sleep again, and found herself here. She liked it up here. It was peaceful and there wasn't anyone else up there. She wouldn 't mind the company but, she did enjoy the silence.
She felt a light itch on the side of her nose. She took her lasses off and laid them down next to her. She scratched lightly and the blinked a few times. Ah blind as a bat with out them. She moved her hand next to her to reasch for her glasses and would up pushing them away.
"Great" She mumbled.
Davina stood up now looking around for her glasses. "Darn where could they be I couldn't have pushed them that far." She said to herself. She squinted it but it was hopeless, she couldn't see a thing.
Calum Ferguson - July 11, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
Calum walked into the Astronomy tower. Why he did so, he didn't know. He just couldn't sleep and wanted to view the stars. He tried to sleep, had sneaked down to the kitchens to drink some hot chocolate, counted sheep, nothing worked. So, he tried to the Astronomy Tower. As he walked up the steps to the door, he heard a voice, but decided to come in anyway.
He opened the door and saw a girl searching for something, blindly.
"Hello." Calum said. "Looking for--" he said stepped on something with a clunk. "--some..thing." he ended, dreading what he would find underneath his feet.
He looked under, to find a pair of glasses, broken in two.
"Is this what you're looking for?" he said, immediately. "I'm sorry!"
But then, he relised that he had a wand and know a very good spell.
"reparo." he muttered, handing the fixed glasses back to the girl. "Here."

Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
"Yea my glass-" She was interrupted by a crunch from underneathe his shoe. She laughed somewhat. "Well thank you for fixing them for me." She smiling at him sincerly. "You know thats the second time today my glasses broke." She said with a small chuckle.
"I can never remember that spell. You would figure someone who constantly breaks their glasses should remember a spell like that." She said smiling. "Oh I'm so sorry where are my manners. I'm Davina. Davina Ashford." She said extending her hand.
Calum Ferguson - July 11, 2008 03:48 AM (GMT)
"You're very welcome." he said. "Yeah, I would actually." he said, grinning and laughing slightly too.
"I'm Calum Ferguson. Third year Ravenclaw." he said, shaking Davina's hand."Nice to meet you. It's not often I meet somebody in the Astronomy Tower. Especially this late at night. What were you doing?"
Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 03:55 AM (GMT)
Davina shook his hand as well with a wide smile. "I'm a 6th year gryffindor." She said in responce to his sentence. "Oh well I couldn't sleep at all." Davina shrugged a little. "I think I'm a tad bit homesick." Davina said sighing a little bit.
Calum Ferguson - July 11, 2008 05:49 AM (GMT)
"Me neither. I tried everything. From hot chocolate to counting sheep jump over a fence." he said. "You know, I never seem to be able to keep track of how many sheep pass over the fence. I always lose count, but then I have to start all over again. And, the next thing I know, I've been lying in bed, awake, for almost an hour."
He shook his head.
"Homesick?" he said. "Yeah, well, I miss my family too. Especially how my dad rants on about Quidditch. What do you miss?"
Davina Ashford - July 11, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
Davina nodded while listeining to him. "I miss my moms home cooking for sure. She used to cook every night, " Davina said "Hmm so where are you usually aroud, I've never seen you before." Davina asked him while smiling widely.
Calum Ferguson - July 12, 2008 06:22 AM (GMT)
"The library or around my common room. I might go into the grounds or wander around Hogsmeade once in a while. Just doing my own stuff." he said, shrugging. "Well, I haven't seen you around either."
He smiled in return to her wide smile.
"Do you always smile that wide?" he asked, grinning. "No offense, of course. Just nice."
He looked for a place to sit and when he found none close to him, he fell back to the wall, leaning on it instead.
Davina Ashford - July 12, 2008 03:20 PM (GMT)
Davina laughed slightly." Yea, I'm normally a little overly cheerful." She said shrugging, her smile still not fading. "It's really hard for me to not be smiling or laughing. I probably smile sleep." She said joking at herself. Which was the truth though. Davina normally wasn't upset. It would take a great deal to get her upset, or to even make her frown.
"No wonder I haven't really seen you around." She said. "I'm normally stuck in the gryffindor common room studying. I'm not that good at memorizing spells." She said with a tiny shrug. "I'm rarely in the library unless its to get another book. Id rather not stay in there to study."
Calum Ferguson - July 13, 2008 03:56 AM (GMT)
He laughed.
"That must be comfortable." he remarked jokingly. "I know, the library has this sense of lifelessness that I really hate, but I need the books the library provides, so I go in there most of the time."
He shrugged.
"I've met a lot of sixth years lately.." he said. "And Gryffindors. I don't get this sudden change of house popularity. At first, I only meet Slytherins, then Ravenclaws, now Gryffindors. What is wrong with Hufflepuffs?"
He grinned and stared at the stars.
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 04:09 AM (GMT)
"Well I guess they're next." She said with a slight giggle. "So what are you, muggle born pure blood half?" she asked. She really didn't care, but some purebloods did seem too. Especially when they found out she was muggleborn. It really annoyed her. She never understood what was so important about being a pureblood.
Calum Ferguson - July 13, 2008 05:11 AM (GMT)
"I'm a half-blood. My old dad's a muggle, mum's a witch. Although, now, both my parents are from wizarding community." he said, shrugging. "You?"
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 05:18 AM (GMT)
Davina smiled. "I'm muggle born." she said still smiling. "A lot of people here seem to really hate that though," she said her smile somewhat diminishing.
Calum Ferguson - July 13, 2008 05:36 AM (GMT)
"Those d*mn Slytherins.." he said, shaking his head. "The mean ones always try to spoil people's happy smiles. Just don't let it get in your head and you'll be fine."
He smiled.
"Muggles aren't too bad. The good ones, I mean. Your parents must be good ones." he said. "You seem so bothered that people don't like muggle borns."
He winked.
"I can tell, your smile is fading." he said,
Davina Ashford - July 13, 2008 04:16 PM (GMT)
When he mentioned slytherins, she immediately thought of Blane. She sighed slightly. It was like he didn't want to be that way but sometimes he just had to. She wished it wasn't like that. All this just seemed to get in the way. "Yea but sometimes it's hurtful." she thought for a minute about how Blane slipped and called her Mudblood. It hurt more coming from him.
"Oh yea my parents are great. And it takes a lot for my smile to fade, I'm just thinking of a few things." She said trying to widen her smile again.
He thoughts wandered to Professor Raynes. He almost slipped up and called her mudblood too, and he's supposed to be a professor. "You seen that new assistant DADA professor?" she asked Calum.
Calum Ferguson - July 14, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
"No, why?" he said. "I didn't know Professor Stalhand even had an assistant.."
He shrugged.
Davina Ashford - July 14, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
"Yea he's horrible." Davina began. "I swear I think he's a death eater or something." she said with a slight shuder.
Calum Ferguson - July 14, 2008 11:13 AM (GMT)
"Another death eater in the school?" he asked. "Have you heard the rumours about Professor Casanov? Or that one about Professor Ryder? This school has too many suspects..."
He placed his hands in the pockets of his jacket to stop himself from shivering.
Davina Ashford - July 15, 2008 06:05 AM (GMT)
"It's rather scary. I mean He gave me a detntion. I'm really afraid to actually go to it." She said frowning somewhat. She didn't get how the school could hire people that were obviously up to no good.
Calum Ferguson - July 15, 2008 07:48 AM (GMT)
"I suggest to go to it." he said. "But learn as many spells as you can."
He grinned.
"Why did you get detention, anyway?" he asked.
Davina Ashford - July 15, 2008 03:30 PM (GMT)
Davina smiled but figured that was actually good advice. She thought for a minute. "Well I hadn't done the homework. But it was my first time being there I didn't know there was homework." She sighed. Other people had done the homework and they werent in class the day before.
Calum Ferguson - July 16, 2008 01:31 AM (GMT)
"Well, if you didn't attend the last class, then he'd have no right to give you detention." he said. "I've never gotten detention yet, partly because I don't attend a lot of classes."
He grinned.
"My parents would have been very disappointed in me," he said. "They want me to be Minister for Magic.."
He shook his head.
"That would never be possible, of course. I don't like politics, let alone being in the middle of a magical chaos."
Davina Ashford - July 16, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
"That's a seriously stressful job." Davina said thinking. "I doubt I'd be able to ever do something like that." She shrugged. She was more of the person who helped people in anyway she could. "What do you want to do since it seems not be minter." She smiled.
Calum Ferguson - July 16, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
"I?" he asked. "I'd like to be a..."
He thought for a minute.
"An auror." he said, finally. "Or a healer. Because, I'll never qualify for an auror. I can't even fly. What about you?"
Davina Ashford - July 16, 2008 02:47 AM (GMT)
"Yea I was definitely considering being a medi witch or something like that." Davina said. "But I don't know I'm better at talking with people, so I'm not ssure. My mother told me to be a psychiatrist." She laughed somewhat. "Maybe I'll be a magical psychiatrist." She said only semi jokingly.
Calum Ferguson - July 18, 2008 03:06 AM (GMT)
"Or a physic, in that case." he said, grinning. "But you'd have to excell in divination, which is bad for me, because I don't even have divination in my timetable. My timetable is already squished as it is."
He covered his mouth as he yawned.
"It's getting late.." he said. "I better get to sleep. That is, if I can."
