Title: Arithmancy #2
Kirsten Forsyth - July 11, 2008 09:28 AM (GMT)
Kirsten Forsyth went into her classroom 20 minutes earlier. She was in a somewhat happy mood, and hoped she wouldn't need to yell at anyone today. Professor Forsyth took out her wand and flicked it towards the blackboard. These words appeared:
Detention
Mona Woods - not handing in assigned homework
Solana Lilly - not handing in assigned homework
You will meet me after class, unless you have a good reason why not to.
((OOC: I know people have other things to do, so, just tell me if you're busy.))
Professor Forsyth, then, flicked her wand again.
Please sit down and write a one or two sentences about what you have learnt about Arithmancy so far.
Hope you enjoy Arithmancy!!
She sat back on her chair and waited for everyone to come in.
Vero Watson - July 11, 2008 01:51 PM (GMT)
Vero walked into Arithmacy class excited she loved number, now the number would have a meaning. Vero had read the entire book the night before, Vero was up late because of it. Vero smiled at the Professor as she found a seat in the front of the class.
Vero looked up at the board. "Please write one or two sentence about what you've learnt so far in Arithmacy."
Vero pulled out her quill and parchment and began her paper.
'What i have learned in Arithmacy class so far is that each letter of the Alphabet has a number, then the numbers of whatever you are doing, then you add them together and there you go.'
Calum Ferguson - July 12, 2008 07:39 AM (GMT)
Calum walked into Arithmancy contently. He liked numbers, he liked Arithmancy, but not enough as to pay too much attention to the teacher.
"G'morning, Professor." he said and sat down to a desk next to another desk, occupied by a Gryffindor girl. He got out a roll of parchment, and dipped his quill in ink, writing:
Arithmancy is a simple, though sometimes complicated, use of numbers in divination. It may tell the personality of the person according to their name.
Then, having nothing better to do, he turned to the Gryffindor next to him.
"Hello." he said, smiling. "How are you?"
Vero Watson - July 12, 2008 04:50 PM (GMT)
Vero laid down her quill and looked to the front of the class wondering if anyone else besides herself and a ravenclaw were coming to class. Vero turned to the boy next to her when he asked how she was doing.
"I'm fine and yourself?" Vero asked. "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Vero." Vero said has she stuck out her hand.
Calum Ferguson - July 14, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
"I'm great." he said. "Calum Ferguson, nice to meet you."
He shook her hand.
"So, d'you like Arithmancy?" he asked.
Valentina Greysoul - July 14, 2008 01:44 PM (GMT)
Valentina walked in slowly in Arithmacy, still quite convinced that it had something to do with the muggle subject, maths...
Her smile widened as soon as she saw the same familiar face that she had seen during her summer holidays.
She hurried over to sit next to him.
"hey, Calum! What's up?" She said, with the sweetest tone she could manage without her voice cracking with excitement.
She looked over at a girl that she hadn't seen before, since she was so concentrated on him.
"Oh, hi! I hope I'm not interrupting anything!" She said, eyeing Calum suspiciously.
Saphira Adair - July 14, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
Saphira walked into the Arithmancy classroom and sat down in an empty desk in the middle row. Then she took out parchment, ink, quills and began to write what she had learned so far in Arthmancy. I have learned that every letter in the alphabet has a number that depicts it also that you can sometimes learn a person’s personality by their name.
Calum Ferguson - July 15, 2008 03:12 AM (GMT)
Calum smiled when he saw Valentina come in.
"Hi, Valentina." he said. "No, no, 'course not. Calm down, you're way too excited. May I ask what? Oh, and by the way, this is Vero. Vero, meet Valentina."
Vero Watson - July 15, 2008 11:16 PM (GMT)
"Yes i like Arithmancy very much Calum, and it is a pleasure to meet you." Vero said. Vero watched a girl walk over really excited and seen the girl get suspesion of her."That's a new one, nobody is ever jealous of me."
Vero smiled and stuck out her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Valentina." Vero said with a pleasant and nonthreatening smile on face, "Calum and me just met here today, in this class." Vero stressed.
Valentina Greysoul - July 16, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Valentina let out a sight of relief, and looked up at Vero for, what seemed like, the first time.
"Hi, Vero! I'm Valentina Pearl Greysoul!" She said happily, maybe too much for a Slytherin. From her tone, thought, you could easily hear the tone of superiority, since her father was Vice-Minister.
"in what year are you in, Vero?" she asked with a conversational tone, taking out parchment and quill.
"so, I'm excited,am I, Calum?" She asked, with evident flintiness, that would make any boy walk into lampposts. She had been practicing since she had got back from the summer holidays, and now came out right, if not more.
Calum Ferguson - July 17, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
Calum stared absently staring at the board, putting himself in auto-pilot.
"Arithmancy is a good subject." he muttered back to Vero, still staring at the board.
"so, I'm excited,am I, Calum?" A voice came from his side.
Calum, absently sent a stinging hex to his knee as Valentina spoke, making him fall backwards on his chair and to the floor.
"Ah." he gasped, snapping back into the real world and grasping his knee. "Did I just--?"
He straightened up quickly and sat back to his chair.
"Yes, you seemed excited about something." he said, casually.
Vero Watson - July 17, 2008 02:35 PM (GMT)
Vero watched Valentina give a sigh of relief, "What year are you in, Vero?" "I am a First year." Vero replied. Valentina went on to talk to Calum. Vero was looking at the board when Calum gasped and hit and floor. Vero gasped and got ready to help him up when he hoped in his chair as if nothing had happened.
"OMIGOD, Calum, are you ok?" Vero asked concern,
Valentina Greysoul - July 17, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
"first year, huh? Enjoying it here?" She asked, watching Calum from the corner of her eye.
Her phrase, however, was drowned by Calum's cry.
Her head snapped automaticly to face him.
"Calum!" she yelped, diving to help him up. "are you okay? How-?!" She grabbed him up, pushing him straight with one hand.
Calum Ferguson - July 18, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
"Sorry, I just got out of my mind." he said, reassuringly. "Yes, thank you, I'm very fine."
He smiled as casually as he could to ease away the awkwardness.
"So, have a good holiday?" he asked them.
Vero Watson - July 18, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
Vero was amazed that Calum could act as if nothing had happened.
"Are you positive you're Okay? because that seemed to hurt a lot." Vero said with a brow raised. Vero shook her head, but answered Calum's question. "Yeah, had a great holiday." Vero said has she remembered the last holiday was a while back, maybe, he was playing catch up with her,or he was embarrassed. "How was Holiday, Calum? oh, and what year are you? i completely forgot to ask i am so scatterbrained sometimes." Vero said with a smile, acting like it never happened.
Calum Ferguson - July 18, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)
"Yes, I think so. Thanks, anyway." he said, smiling. "I'm a third year. I went somewhere with Valentina, I think. I've got too much in my brain as well. So, you're not the only one."
He grinned reassuringly.
"When's the class going to start, do you think?" he asked, sighing.
Vero Watson - July 18, 2008 03:37 AM (GMT)
Vero looked up at the front of the class wondering the exact same thing. She was excited when she first entered the classroom, she could not wait for class to start but now she was just not excited at all, more bored.
"I have no idea, when ever she believes that everyone is here maybe?" Vero said has she turned back to calum.
Kirsten Forsyth - July 18, 2008 06:10 AM (GMT)
Professor Forsyth looked around the classroom. Only four people had decided to come. Disapointing. She decided to start now and anyone late, she thought, would be gladly excused because of the lack of students who had come to Arithmancy.
"Can you, now, please hand in your review on Arithmancy, please?" she said, clearing up a spot on her desk. "I'll be starting class soon."
Vero Watson - July 18, 2008 02:41 PM (GMT)
Vero grabbed her paper and headed to the front of the class. As she handed the paper in she hoped that more people would show up. this class was kind of disappointing. Vero headed back to her set and waited for class to start.
Saphira Adair - July 18, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
Saphira was surprised that there weren’t that many students in the classroom. Maybe some of the students got lost? She pick up the parchment off her desk and walked up to Professor Forsyth’s desk and handed in her parchment about Arithmancy.
Valentina Greysoul - July 18, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Valentina felt kinda excluded, so she remained silent.
She eyed Calum shyly, and casually smiled and nodded.
When the teacher spoke, she got up, and brushed with her fingers the blank parchment.
Words blossomed to form what she had been thinking. She thought it was a miracle she was so advanced in magic.
She handed it over happily.
She sat back down and glanced over at Calum, smiling sweetly.
"So, Calum... Are you free tomorrow afternoon? It should be sunny, perfect for hanging out!" As she said this, a faint pink floded her cheeks.
She had never invited a boy out. She found it quite awquard. Normally it should be boys asking this things, not girls. Especially not the Vice-Minister's daughter.
She smiled again and waited him to reply.
Mona Woods - July 19, 2008 04:05 AM (GMT)
Mona ran into class, all puffed out. She was late yet again. It was starting to become her habit again. She looked at the board and, puzzledly, she saw her name under detention.
Not again..! she thought.
First with Professor Stalhand, now with Professor Forsyth. She decided she really needed to come earlier and do her homework on time. She sighed as she picked out a seat next to Valentina.
Mona smiled at her and sat down.
Kirsten Forsyth - July 19, 2008 04:57 AM (GMT)
"Good Morning, Miss Woods. Please sit down and write what you have learnt so far. Hand it in here." she said, smiling and pointing to a space in her desk where nearly all the students' pieces of parchment were laid. "Today we will be learning about the number meanings."
She filcked her wand at the board.
"Now, does anyone know anything about the number 1?" she asked.
Calum Ferguson - July 19, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
He handed his piece of parchment and went back to his seat.
Valentina said something and he smiled at her.
"No, I'm not doing anything." he said. "It'd be a perfect day to hang out."
He smiled at Mona as she came in and sat next to Valentina.
Then, the teacher spoke up again.
Vero Watson - July 19, 2008 12:58 PM (GMT)
Vero raised her hesitantly not know if she was correct or not but decided to give it a shot.
"The number 1, symbolizes, independence. " Vero said hoping she was correct.
Valentina Greysoul - July 19, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
Valentina smiled calmly before saying, "That's great!".
Her day was soaring to unusual standarts so early. What a lucky day!"
Valentina turned at the sound of a chair moving. She turned around to face her best friend.
"Mona!" she half cried, swinging her arms around the Ravenclaw girl."I haven't heard from you in ages!" She half-complained.
She was about to tell her her the latest school-gossips, when the teacher asked a question about a one.
She straightened herself up more composely.
She was rattling her brain for an answer when Vero preceded her.
Valentina smacked her forehead. Why didn't she remember that?
Vero Watson - July 19, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Vero heard a smacking noise and turned around to Valentina lowering her hand from smacking her forehead. "Wonder what that was about?" Vero thought as she faced forward again, waiting for the Professor to tell her if she was right or wrong, She hoped she was right.
Mona Woods - July 20, 2008 07:10 AM (GMT)
Professor Forsyth had excused her from another detention. It was weird. Normally it would be a straight detention. She sighed, everyoine had been weird lately.
She took out parchment, a quill and dipped it in ink, then writing:
Arithmancy is 'divination through numbers' and may tell a person's personality. There are three types of numbers. The Character number, the social number and the heart number, each represents a different role in identifying personality.
Mona got up and handed the piece of parchment to Professor Forsyth. She sat back down.
She smiled as Valentina swung her arm around her.
"I have been keeping a low profile these days." she said. "I haven't seen you either."
Kirsten Forsyth - July 20, 2008 07:16 AM (GMT)
Professor Forsyth smiled at Vero.
"Very good." she said and flicking her wand again.

The Number 1 represents: -independence
|
"Any more representations?" she asked, looking around, her gaze stopping on Valentina and Mona. "I would really prefer you two listen rather than chatting behind my back."
She was stern, but not too stern.
Valentina Greysoul - July 20, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
Valentina cleared her throaght, which felt dry.
"Isn't the number one also used to rapresent God?" she asked, fiddling with her fingers. She wondered where she heard it before, but was pretty sure it was right.
She scribbled down what her professor had written down on the board. While doing so, her hand brushed against Calum's. She blushed a deep shade of red.
"sorry!" she mumbled, even thought she wasn't more than much.
Calum Ferguson - July 21, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
He smiled as she brushed his hand.
"Don't worry about it." he said, brushing her hand while saying this.
He scribbled down what the professor wrote, then put up his hand too. "And God leads, so it must as well represent leadership and pioneers."
OOC: I'll be away on week days from tomorrow on. Sorry for the inconvenience...

Kirsten Forsyth - July 21, 2008 04:59 AM (GMT)
Kirsten beamed at her class. For once, they seemed to be a lot smarter than her last one.
"You're correct, Mr. Ferguson." she said. "And so were you, Miss Greysoul. Please write this down."
She flicked her wand at the board.

The Number 1 represents: -independence -God -leadership
This is the number of the individual, the solitary unit. Ones are independent, focused, and determined. They set a goal and stick to it. They are leaders and inventors. Ones find it difficult to work with others and don't like to take orders. They can be self-centered, egotistical, and domineering. They are often loners.

"Now, what about the number 2?" she asked.
OOC: Sorry, but I'll be away on week days from tomorrow on. Sorry again for the inconvenience...

Valentina Greysoul - July 23, 2008 02:35 PM (GMT)
Valentina blushed as Calum stroked her hand.
number two...number two... She thought hard. Her hand shot up.
"Two represents interaction, two-way communication (as opposed to one-way) cooperation, and balance. your charecter is imaginative, creative, and sweet natured.
" It's also reapresents peace, harmony, commitment, loyalty and fairness. But there are two sides to the coin. Twos also introduce the idea of conflict, opposing forces, and the contrasting sides of things; night and day, good and evil, so on and so forth. You can be withdrawn, moody, self-consious, and indecisive."
She knew this since she had taken an arithmacy quiz on the Daily Prophet. The number two had been her number.
She felt highly intelligent, and was now very proud of her knowledge.
Kirsten Forsyth - July 26, 2008 01:22 AM (GMT)
She smiled again at Valentina.
"Couldn't have said it better." she said, flicking her wand again at the board.

"Number Three?" she asked.
Vero Watson - July 26, 2008 05:45 PM (GMT)
Vero bite her lip as she mental went over her book in search for the meaning of number three. Vero's hand shoot up as she remembered the beginning.
"
Three represents the idea of completeness or wholeness, as in the threesomes past-present-future and mind-body-spirit." Vero's eyes went upward and her words came out like she was reading from a book. "Three indicates talent, energy, an artistic nature, humor, and social ease. Threes are often lucky, easygoing, and highly successful, but they can also be unfocused, easily offended, and superficial." Vero looked at the teacher hoping she would not be con sided a geek at her new school.
Valentina Greysoul - July 26, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
Valentina beamed. That was perfect! she thought, willing to show more of her knowledge.
Vero answered first, and Valentina felt a sparkle of challenge.
Vero was good. Valentina was willing.
That would be fun!
She looked back at Vero and whispered: "Nice one! You have a natural talent for arythmacy, you know that?" she asked with a smile.
She was racking her brain for the number four, and now she was just waiting for the professor to say 'go!'.
Kirsten Forsyth - July 27, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
"Very good, Miss Watson." she said, beaming.
Professor Forsyth flicked her wand at the board again.

"One more number, then." she said. "The number four?"
Vero Watson - July 27, 2008 01:40 PM (GMT)
Vero beamed at Valentina compliment. "I love numbers. You can do anything with them," Vero whispered back. Vero could see the spark of challenge in Valentina eye.
"This is good, i have someone to compete with for once. Vero thought as the Professor beamed at her. Vero smiled and got ready for the next one.
Vero raised her hand and quickly recited what she had read from the book.,
"Like a table that rests solidly on four legs, four indicates stability and firmness. Fours enjoy hard work. They are practical, reliable and down to earth; they prefer logic and reason to flights of fancy. They are good at organization and getting things done. Like the cycle of the four seasons, they are also predictable. They can be stubborn, suspicious, overly practical and prone to angry outbursts. The conflicts possible in "two" are doubled in four."
Vero smiled...
Kirsten Forsyth - July 28, 2008 01:15 PM (GMT)
"Tell me, Miss Watson, have you swallowed a book lately?" she said, jokingly and flicked the board.

"Please write all that down." she said. "Your homework is two sentences or more about the numbers we have just learnt."
She looked around her class.
"Now, I think Slytherin and Gryffindor can have five points each." she said. "Five for Valentina and five for Vero. I really hate to see Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff loose, but you lot have to participate more. Mona, I'll see you in detention, the rest of you, I'll see you in class in a fortnight."
Valentina Greysoul - July 28, 2008 08:54 PM (GMT)
Valentina bit her lip.
Damn, she had been too slow!
She looked up at the professor, a grin spreading on her delicate lips.
"Really, miss? That's great! Thank you!" She said happily, forgetting her revality towards Vero.
"Give five!" she said happily at Vero, lifting her hand from the desk and putting it shoulder level.
