Title: Sleepless Night
Description: [Open, Adut Pref]

Evangeline couldn't sleep. She had been in her quarters, reading a book and she had headed to bed right after, yet had found herself tossing and turning. She had finally given up two hours later and thrown on some clothes, a pair of bright blue jeans and a pale pink top, with blue flip flops and a grey outter robes to ward off the chilly night air.
She had thought about heading to the Astronomy Tower, but it was a big hangout for those who couldn't sleep, so instead she headed down to the lake, her hair tossing a little in the breeze, reminding her she hadn't really brushed it.
She wandered along the worn path to the lake, wrapping a hand around her wand as she walked, remembering that day in the Forbidden Forest, how she had met the Death Eater.
She reached the edge of the lake and stood before it, looking out at it's black expanse. Being here always made her feel peaceful. She was lost in those feelings when she heard footsteps behind her.

She had never been one to sleep normal times, in fact ever since working at the reservations she slept in short bursts. Her body used to be woken every two hours or so to care for some creature or another. Despite the fact she’d been teaching at Hogwarts for a while now she’d still never grown out of the habit. But she found it useful since it let her check on the baby kneazles often, a task a normal sleeper would not have enjoyed. Mei however wore a cheerful smile as she followed the path back to the castle, she’d just checked on the cubs and they were fine, since it hadn’t taken as long as she’d thought she chosen to follow the lake path back to kill time.
She wasn’t dressed like she would during the day, after all she was not expecting to see anyone and felt no need to make herself look taller. Instead she was wearing a pair of skinny black jeans and a massively oversized deep green jumper, it was so large the neck hung off one shoulder, not that she seemed bothered by the cold air. Her hands were tucked lightly within the sleeves as she walked her eyes glancing about out of general curiosity.
It was then she noticed the distinctly adult figure near the lakes edge, it took her a moment to recognise the figure as the librarian. Though they hadn’t really spoken before Mei thought it generally polite to say hello to the only other living soul she’d seen all night. Her voice was bright when she spoke, suiting the life shown in her eyes.
“Out for a night stroll huh?”

Evangeline turned as she heard someone behind her approach, a short someone, well, shorter than herself, and she was only 5'7. She recognized her as the Care of Magical Creatures Professor, she had seen her in the Great Hall and in the staff room during meetings.
She brushed her bangs out of her face and smiled, returning the 'hello', then studied the woman as she spoke. She seemed friendly and cheerful, especially for it being so late at night. She wore black skinny jeans, which Evangeline decided she liked, and an over-sized shirt.
She heard her ask a question and focused her mind on it, shaking the other thoughts from her head.
"Something like that," she responded, "I couldn't sleep and rather than head to the Astronomy tower, I came down here. I'm Evangeline by the way," she said, extending a hand. And then: "What brings you out so late?"

Mei was happy to see that Evangeline wasn’t the ‘don’t talk to me I’m tired’ type. She wasn’t quite sure it would have been the best foot to get off on and Mei sorely needed some human company, animals were cute and all but they just didn’t cut it in the conversation department. As her hazel eyes watched Evangeline react she couldn't help but think her pink shirt was wonderful, though Mei herself didn't ware pink.
She grinned at her words stepping closer so she was able to shake her hand, upon doing so the height difference became painfully obvious, a whole five inches obvious. Mei stood at only 5 ft 2; it was on of her heritage quirks, her mother and sisters all being short.
“I’m Mei Lei Feng, but skip the Lei and Feng part. Mei’s fine…As for me being here, well animals don’t quite grasp the non nocturnal thing; I was checking on the baby kneazles. Can’t have anything happening to my critters now can i?” she giggled brightly and the laugh insinuated she never truly viewed any creatures as her own, they were all wild after all.
