Title: A Day Out
Description: Florent
Cassidy Lowe - July 19, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Cass wandered rather aimlessly through the streets. Sure, she needed to pick up a few things, but she was headed no where in particular for the moment. Pretty much she was just stopping as the need arised. Occasionally she'd stop to peer into a window as some things grabbed her attention, and every now and then she step in momentarily and come out with a bag of stuff.
Really, her main reason for being out was that it was a lovely day. A little breezy, the sky as a little grey, but that was to be expected. She wanted to spend the day outside, and needing a few things, Diagon Alley had been the perfect option. It had been a long time since she'd ventured through the Alley, Hogsmeade usually being her first choice. But having decided that she needed a change of venue, Diagon Alley had appeared to be the perfect option. And so here she was. Her brunette hair down and in soft waves, her blue eyes peering curiously through the various shop windows, she was dressed in the usual wizarding fashion.
She'd just been peering through a shop window, and not really paying attention, Cass turned to continue on her way. Of course, as luck would have it, she ran straight into something, or someone for that matter. "Oh gosh, I'm so sorry!" Cass uttered an apology immediately, cursing her inability to look where she was headed. Mostly, she was just glad that she hadn't lost any of her shopping as that would have only caused further embarassment.

Florent had been in Diagon Alley searching for books on Dark Wizards tactics in the Second WIzarding War. He had left the book store satisfied with a few books. AJ had given him money to spend. Florent had very little money at the moment and though he was 28 his parents were with holding his money until he returned to France and secured a real job.
His eyes readjusted to the natural light while he checked his watch. For a breezy day it wasn't the least bit of cold; in fact it was near perfect. As he started to walk he noticed a woman he had met a year or so ago walking without paying attention She crashed into some old lady.
She exclaimed her apologies while Florent rushed over to help the old lady first. She was furious. "I apologize for my friend." She scoffed and was her way. Florent helped his acquaintance up. "You should really watch where you're going." he recommended in his thick French accent.

Cass's flush deepened as she realized that she had bumped into a little old lady, of course that was exactly what would happen. She sighed, still uttering her apologies, and naturally the old lady was rather upset. She sighed, flustered and even embarassed. Typical Cass, really. Still, at least she hadn't completely run over the lady and she hadn't sent anything flying, that was something to be thankful for at least.
Her frustration, however, mounted, when she found a familiar face apologizing for her. If possible, her cheeks only became a deeper red. But she took his helping hand quite happily. "Yeah well, what can I say? I'm just a klutz," She retorted with a shrug, before focusing on readjusting her robes and bags, still rather flustered.
Florent Rousseau - July 19, 2008 07:25 PM (GMT)
Florent let out a laugh. Perhaps she did not remember him. "We have met before. No?"
Florent in fact remembered meeting over similar circumstances before. She had knocked him over while he was balancing food he had nicked. She offered to repay him by taking him for lunch. They got into a lengthy discussion about Dark Wizards and how she was amazed by how the Auror Department was not doing anything to stop the uprising that was occuring. In fact the Ministry ignored it saying that no wizard was powerful enough to raise an army.
Obviously they didn't learn from their mistakes with Voldemort. She knew he hunted Dark Wizards and was enthusiastic about it, wanting to join him. She said she had just graduated from Hogwarts, which is when he said she was too young. Florent now saw this was a mistake since he needed help within the last year and was now in a partnership with a seventh year.
"I am Florent Rousseau," he said, reintroducing himself.
Cassidy Lowe - July 19, 2008 07:40 PM (GMT)
Cassidy laughed, dawning slowly creeping it's way into her features. "Oh gosh I'm sorry! Yeah, I know! I guess I was just a bit slow there." She grinned, quite happy to have run into Florent, "I thought I recognized you." She couldn't believe that it had taken her that long to recognize the man standing before her. They hadn't met too often, but over the years they had met up occasionally. Of course, it had been a while since she had last seen him.
"So how have you been?" Cass asked, a small amount of worry notable in her voice. She knew that he hunted dark wizards, and had also tried to convincing him to let her help. She only hoped that his luck had been holding out. Of course, she still wished to help out, she was older now, if that was any reconciliation to Florent.
Florent Rousseau - July 19, 2008 07:52 PM (GMT)
He laughed at her saying she had a slow moment. In the dozens of times they had met over the year she had always seemed to forget who he was for a split second. She seemed to be a rather busy person after all.
"I'm good. Loads to inform you on." he said referring to AJ. He was actually glad to have ran into her today, for he had been looking for her for quite some time. He wanted to see if she was still interested in hunting. She was a rather smart and talented girl, someone Florent felt valuable.
"And how are you? Keeping busy?" he asked. "Let's talk about it over a lunch?" he suggested.
Cassidy Lowe - July 19, 2008 08:01 PM (GMT)
Cassidy grinned at the mention of being informed. She loved being filled in the things that were happening, particularly when it involved Florent's job of hunting the Dark Wizards. She wondered what he had to inform her on.
"I'm good. Not too busy, but busy enough." She shrugged, since graduating from Hogwarts she'd struggled to find a job that she enjoyed and suited her needs. She'd gone from job to job, but some how managed to get by and still save money should it ever be needed.
At the mention of lunch, Cass immediately perked up, of course, the change in her nature was barely perceptible considering her already perky persona. "Lunch sounds fanatastic. I'm starving after all this shopping." She looked down at her few bags. She hadn't even bought that much, but she'd been shopping all day and had yet to grab a bite to eat, which was surprising, considering the fact she was always hungry.
Florent Rousseau - July 19, 2008 08:16 PM (GMT)
They found a quaint cafe down near the end of Diagon Alley. Sitting in a corner away from the crowd they ordered food; Florent waited until the waiter was out of an earshot before he started talking. He went straight to business.
"Remember what you were interested in when we first met, but I said you were too young, and it was too dangerous?"
She nodded.
"If you're still interested I am in need of help." He noticed her eyes widen at the prospect of hunting. "I have been working with a student at Hogwarts," she didn't seem to pleased to hear he had been involved with a student when he was the one who said she was too young after she had graduated, "He's a seventh year who was chasing a darkie in Glasgow when I bumped into him."
Florent told the story of how he and AJ were working together, secretly forming a headquarters. "He was given a house by his muggle parents. He offered me a bed to sleep on."
The food came and he quieted down. He waited for the waiter to leave again. "We have converted the attic into our headquarters. Things are starting to pick up."
Florent took a bite of his food. "If you're interested, we're meeting another hopeful soon at her house. A medic."
Cassidy Lowe - July 19, 2008 08:28 PM (GMT)
Cassidy ordered her food before turning her full attention to Florent. Of course, she nodded when he mentioned that she had once wanted to fight with him. Her hope surged, wondering what he was leading to. She really hoped that he would now let her help.
She couldn't help but give him a dark look when he admitted that he was getting help from a seventh year. She'd been out of Hogwarts and he'd still refused to let her help, claiming she was too young. That kind of dampened the mood, but only momentarily. She was actually ecstatic at this point, he was asking for her help, but she tried to keep her cool, hoping to hide some of her eagerness.
"Of course I'm interested. I've been waiting for years for you to let me help out. But a seventh year? Seriously? You wouldn't let me help when I'd graduated from Hogwarts," She couldn't help it. Always one to speak her mind, especially when it came to expressing some built up anger. She shook her head. "Well count me in," She decided, not even taking the time to consider anything. "Who's the other hopeful?" She asked, curiousity getting the better of her as she wondered whether she knew of the person or not. The chances weren't high, but she was still curious.
Florent Rousseau - July 19, 2008 08:37 PM (GMT)
"You might know her actually. She was in Ravenclaw, Torree Kendrick. She graduated recently then went to train as a Healer." he was starving. He couldn't help talk between bites.
"Come to think of it. You might have known Andrej Vitcav. The seventh year. He's a seventh year, so you were there when he was younger."
It seemed Florent had been surrounding himself with Ravenclaws. Which was funny because Florent always saw himself as being in Ravenclaw if he lived in the UK when he were younger.
"I'm sure he would offer you a bedroom to sleep in. We have agreed we wanted to keep everyone close at the headquarters. If you can call it that yet." Florent had been looking forward to this moment for a long time. A resistance. How exciting.
Cassidy Lowe - July 19, 2008 09:04 PM (GMT)
Cassidy shrugged, the name didn't really ring a bell. Of course, she could possibly know the girl, and would maybe even recognize her once she set eyes on her, Cass had pretty much cut ties with everyone from Hogwarts, she'd lost touch with a lot of people, something she regretted.
"I don't think I know either of them, but then I suppose if I meet them I might recognize them.... Who knows." She shrugged slightly, trying desperately to remember anything connected with the two names Florent had just mentioned.
When Florent mentioned that she might be able to stay at the headquarters, a look of relief showed on her features. She'd been having trouble paying her rent, and had come close to being kicked out more than once. It was hard to live on such little money. "Are you sure? Would I need to pay rent or anything?" Naturally, she was worried. She didn't want to impose, or have AJ feel obligated to let her stay there. She'd be more than willing to pay rent if necessary.
Florent Rousseau - July 19, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
He hadn't thought about rent. "Well I don't pay. I know the house is free. His grandparents lived there for almost 60 years. They had paid it off." He smiled.
Having a group of hunters living together would be the perfect thing. Florent needed to be able to trust people again. AJ was like his little brother now. He felt obligated to protect him. Having Cassidy apart of their group would help them tremendously.
In Florent's research into the Wars he had read about the famous Dumbledore forming a group known as the Order of the Phoenix. It contained many, many members. Florent was only hoping for a handful of members. He wasnt even sure if it would be as official as that.
"I'm sure everything would work out," he said. "AJ wants to capture as many darkies before the NDE recruit them."
Cassidy Lowe - July 20, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
Cassi smiled, that was a bit of a relief, but she could still understand if AJ wanted rent. It was his house after all. "Not having to pay rent would be the most amazing thing ever." That would certainly make things a lot easier on her, by all means.
She could just imagine things, it was going to be fantastic. There was an actual group. And they were going to be fighting Dark Wizards. She'd been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time. She would have tried to do so on her own, but she didn't have the money for it, and so had been stuck working instead. But now, well now things were working out the way she wanted them too.
"That sounds like a good idea. . . " She paused, "So is there, like, any particular leader, or anything?" She was curious. It wasn't that she wanted the leadership postion, far from it actually. But from the sounds of it, it sounded as if AJ was taking the reigns, and yet, here was Florent, 10 years older and much more experienced.
"Is there anyone else who would join us? Or is it you two plus me and that other hopeful?" Cassidy asked, wondering if there were any others. Having a smaller group was benefical, but then so was having a bigger group.
At that point the waiter brought at the food and their conversation died until the waiter was gone again. Cass digged into her food, not realizing how hungry she'd been until she started eating.
Florent Rousseau - July 20, 2008 01:09 AM (GMT)
Cassidy seemed very interested. "A leader?" he hadn't thought about it. AJ and he were partners. Equal. But he was more experienced. "I assume myself. AJ just has the house. Y'know?"
Florent had not thought about really. It made sense he, himself would lead the group.
He watched the waiter, then her eating. "Any others? No, not yet. All of this is sort of happening recently. So bumping into you was perfect timing."
He smiled across the table.
Cassidy Lowe - July 20, 2008 01:21 AM (GMT)
Cassidy nodded, realizing that it had been a bad question to ask. Some things were just better left unsaid. Of course, Cass had the ability to ask all the wrong questions. "Yeah that makes sense really..."
Cass smiled at his comment. "Well I guess that works out then, doesn't it. I'm glad we bumped into each other too, I've been wating for an opportunity like this for ages. Ever since you mentioned it at the beginning actually. And you thought I was too young, hah!" Cassi laughed, shaking her head. And yet she understood his decision not to allow to help.
Suddenly she though of another question, she seemed to be filled with them today. But of course, she was always the curious one, always asking questions. "Do you think others will join us then? And we'll become a larger group?" She wasn't sure if he wanted to keep this group small, or enlarge it.
Florent Rousseau - July 20, 2008 01:33 AM (GMT)
Perhaps she was never too young. It was his excuse to be alone. "Well, now that I see a sevnth year was doing it on his own, I guess a recent graduate will be just as helpful."
Florent had hoped more would join. The Order of the Phoenix had started as a small group lead by a professor that turned into the downfall of the most evil of wizards.
"Perhaps." he took a bite out of his food.
Cassidy Lowe - July 20, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
Cass rasied her eyebrows at that, almost scowling, but not quite. "Not quite that recent anymore. It's been a good two years, going on three," She reminded him. She was still alittle upset that he had let a seventh year help him, when he had never let her help him, even though she'd been out of school.
"Perhaps..." She stated, as if in agreement, before turning back to her food. She was almost done at this point, she glanced over at Florent's plate, realizing that she had pretty much wolfed down her food. Perhaps she get dessert. Her mind wandered momentarily as she thought of desserts, of course she was still undecided.
She turned her mind back to the present topic. "So anyways, when will I get the chance to meet everyone? When do I go out with you and actually experience the real thing.... I'll warn you now, my duelling skills have somewhat diminished considering I havn't had much need for them recently."
Florent Rousseau - July 21, 2008 01:08 AM (GMT)
Meeting everyone? He had known he and AJ were going to meet Torree. Perhaps they would all meet together that night.
"Well maybe we can arrange a meet in Hogsmeade? During the next school visit there. AJ would be able to get out." Of course AJ could leave most any time he wanted thanks to his animagus form.
Cassidy was almost done with her food. Florent chose to savour it. He rarely was eating a hot meal. Usually had to nick some items from markets.
"It's up to you really. And don't worry on dueling. We'll practice." he winked at her.
