Title: It's fun to be funny!

James Sanders - June 17, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
I Have Alot Of Free Time- Sally is based on my good friend.. Er.. Sally. And James is my favourite name for role-playing. And.. The text got a bit screwed up while I was copying from my Microsoft Word thingy.

Anyways if you have time, go ahead and read.

Chapter 2

When they finally figured out how the computer worked, Sally and James started on their project, though they had some arguments-Er, well, actually they had a lot, but you get the point. Their project wasn’t really hard, mostly because their teacher gave them a three page instruction book. You had to research information on what might or will happen to a town if a certain building was built. For example, if you build a barracks in a little town that doesn’t even have a population of 500 then there will be some problems. And the project was due on Monday, which was tomorrow. And to make matters even worse, James and Sally decided to wait to the last moment to start- Don’t they always?
By the end of the day, they managed to get together a very bad slideshow on the computer, but at least they got it to work. They saved the program on their laptop and started walking down the street that connects both their houses. But boys will be boys, and James decided to be one on the way home.
“Man, I was begging that we wouldn’t get Mr. Kohler for our homeroom teacher, and this is what happens when we do,” He gestures to his laptop, which he was holding tightly.
“You beg for everything, I bet you even beg for me to have a bad day,” said Sally, grinning at him. She knew he was going to do something weird whenever he brings up a random topic, it was so like him.
“It’ll be too bad if I accidentally slipped and the laptop, and our project, would fall and be ever lost,” He said, looking up at the clear blue sky with his green eyes. Of course, James would never do such a thing… Would he?
“Don’t be stupid,” Sally laughed, throwing her blonde hair back, “You worked too hard to even dare!” Sally has known James long enough to know he really wouldn’t do such a thing, though he can really be tricky sometimes. That’s what’s always great about being friends with James, there’s always something exciting happening.
James fake gasp and (fake) pretended to trip on the curb, he fell to his knees and dropped the laptop lightly on the grass. “Oh no! Look what I have done!” He gasped again, and fell on his stomach dramatically. Sally fell to her knees too, pretending to be crying.
“What have you done? All our work is lost!” She grasped her face with both her hands in a dramatic way. This would’ve been a very scary sight to anyone passing by; it was like watching a very odd and disturbing show, like spongebob squarepants.
“Okay! Fun’s over, get up!” Sally suddenly grabbed James by the collar and dragged him up, he gasped and held his neck as if she was choking him, but he was smiling the whole time. She dragged him and the laptop all the way to the other side of the road, which must’ve hurt a lot.
“Oh no, all is lost, blah, blah,” Sally muttered, grinning as she said it. As much as she acted like it was annoying, it was actually quite funny and fun. But he’ll never know. She let go of his collar and placed her hands on her hips, looking angry.
“Aw, is Sally angry at me?” He said in a very annoying voice. But as he was saying this, he felt awkward; it was as if he was being watched. Well duh, of course Sally was watching him, but it felt like someone else was.
Sally blew back her hair, then laughed. She always did this, it was odd and funny at the same time but James really didn’t care, he thought it was kind of cool. “We better get home, it’s getting late,” She said finally after James picked up his laptop. They began walking again, James kept on glancing around from time to time, he still felt like they were being watched. This feeling was really scary; he began walking a bit faster. But he was too busy looking around to really see that Sally has been glancing at him from time to time, smiling as she did so. Well, how would I know if she liked him or not? What’s wrong with looking at someone from time to time, NOTHING! That’s what. Anyways, she might just be wondering why he was looking around so much.
James soon found out why he was feeling as if they was being watched. There was a rustling noise from behind them, James quickly turned. He glanced around blankly; he swore he heard something behind them. Then, from behind him, he heard a blood curling scream that he recognized as Sally’s. He turned around yet again, to see a man, who was probably homeless judging by his clothing. His arm was wrapped around Sally’s neck, and he had this wild look in his eyes.
“Give me the laptop and she doesn’t get hurt, kid,” He said in a ruff voice. But something unexpected happened, James pulled out something from inside his coat. And in a split second, there was a shine of green light on the street, then silence…

Chapter 3

As the green light faded and Sally’s eyes adjusted to the light, she first noticed James standing there, staring at the ground. Or at least she thought it was the ground, when the light completely faded; she suddenly saw what he was staring at. There, lying on the ground was the man, he seemed physically unharmed but he didn’t move. Sally didn’t scream or talk, nor did James, they just stared. He didn’t move, not even a twitch.
“W-what did you do?” Sally stammered, unable to take her eyes off the body. He didn’t answer, it was so unlike him. Though, this was an unlikely situation all the same.
Finally, after a few minutes, she looked up. He was looking right back at her. “I killed him,” He replied simply, he was calm, but you could tell he was scared. Then, Sally noticed that he was holding something. It looked like a twig, but it was more pointed at the end.
“W-what’s that?” Said Sally, pointing at the twig shaped object. James slowly looked down at the twig object in his hand, then slowly looked back up.
“I have to tell you something,” He said, just above a whisper, “But you must promise to not tell anyone.” Sally nodded, she had no idea what was going on, she felt like freaking out and running away. But her feet glued her to the ground.
“I’m a wizard, Sally,” He said, holding up the twig object up to his face, “And this is my wand,” He added. She stared at it, then back down at the unmoving body on the dirt. She was too confused and in shock to really put them both together but she got the basic idea.
“You killed him, didn’t you?” Her hair falling in front of her eyes, she didn’t care.
“I-I didn’t mean to,” Said James quietly, and he meant it. He didn’t actually mean to kill him, just to knock him out or something. But in all the confused and panic thoughts he had accidentally cast the wrong spell. It was like on test, a simple mistake can cost a lot, okay, don’t ask why I used that as an example.
But then, Sally broke, “NO! THIS CAN’T BE REAL, IT’S ALL A BIG JOKE ISN’T IT?” She screamed at him. She fell to her knees and started crying franticly, it was all too much for her. She had never seen anyone die before, and James being a wizard.. She doesn’t want him to be dead, even though he tried to kill her, she doesn’t want James to be a real wizard. But then… It explains all those times those weird things happened around James. Like that time where some kids were bulling him, then they tripped and broke their nose when leaving. Or that stuck up girl who was mean to James, her clothes caught on fire right after she insulted him.
James shook his head, “I’m sorry Sally, I can’t bring him back to life,” He stared at her with those side eyes of his, those eyes that he never used before. Because this never happened before.
“It’s true isn’t it?” She said, gaining control over herself again. She got to her feet and stared back at him, ignoring the body. “You really are a wizard,” She whispered.
“Sally, leave the body here, it was be removed. But for now, let’s go home. Get some rest.” He said, trying to calm her down. He reached out and took her hand. She didn’t reject it. She nodded and they walked home together, leaving the body on the grass.
They finally reached the edge of the street where their houses are split, they said they goodbyes, stared at each other for a minute or two and departed. The next day, there was nothing in the news about a dead body found on the street or anything like that. And they greeted each other the next morning with smiles.
But the really odd thing about what all happened was that in the middle of all that confusion and action. They didn’t notice that the sun went below the horizon, and when that happens, it get darks. But that night, the streetlights didn’t turn on. And no cars were on that street at all. And no one on the street came out at night. No one knew what happened what happened that night except Sally and James.
Who knows? There might be some magic there after all, and not just wizard’s magic. I’m talking about emotional magic, that’s right. Don’t you remember? For the first time in their whole friendship, they held hands.
“What up and smell the sunshine,” James smiled warmly as he stared out the window the next morning.

Chapter 4

They both woke up the next morning with high spirits, as if they didn’t remember what happened last night. James finished the rest of his homework with haste while eating his breakfast. By eight-ten, he was out the door and walking down the street. He spotted Sally walking toward him from the street she lives on. They met at the corner of Undrin Ave.
“D-did you sleep well last night?” He asked awkwardly. Sally nodded her head, but she looked at him curiously. He wasn’t the type to go ask those questions. But really, she didn’t sleep very well last night. Sally couldn’t get the image of the body out of her mind. They walked together down the street toward the school in a scary silence. Sally didn’t like it so she had to say something.
“Do you think we’re going to get a good mark for our project?” She asked, staring at the tall redbrick building that was their school. It had a tall flag poll with the Canadian flag attached to it. James didn’t answer, he just nodded.
Mr. Kohler stood in front of the class; his eyes scanning the class like a hawk (Don’t all teachers?) Mr. Kohler was a big tall man; he had a small mustache and beard. His hair was unique and always pulled back from the front. He had a low ruff voice that never changes. Mr. K was a good guy, but he had kind-a sick sense of humor. One day we were studying rabbits and the food chain, he decided to tell us all that rabbits tear each other apart in to little pieces. He chuckled at our reaction.
He continued with the lesion after looking over the class, but there was no way Sally could really pay any attention to what he was saying. It was just;
“The organisms in a pond are affected by the blah, blah, blah.” She kept on going through her mind that James was a wizard and just killed someone the night before. It was almost impossible to believe. Her thoughts were broken and scattered across her mind by the sound of Mr. Kohler saying her name.
“Sally, what happens to the fish in the pond when the temperature increases?” Said Mr. Kohler in a low voice. Sally practically jolted into focus, she looked around as if expecting someone to tell her the answer, but no one did. She then looked up at her teacher in defeat.
“Stop daydreaming about boys and pay attention,” He said, chuckling at his own joke. A few other kids laughed too, but not a lot. She turned her head and saw James staring back at her, he was smiling. She frowned at him, is he laughing at what Mr. Kohler just said? The nerve of some people! She thought angrily. She then looked away angrily and paid more attention to her notes for the rest of the class, all the while picking up the pieces of her former thoughts.
After the bell rang and they were dismissed, Sally saw James talking with his other friends. Mr. Kohler was standing outside his classroom looking for trouble in the halls. Sally walked up cautiously toward James’ group, they didn’t notice her yet.
“Oh. Hey sally, what’s up?” said James, finally seeing her when she’s a few steps away. The other boys didn’t say anything but just watched.
“Do you want to come over to my house to work on our geography homework?” She replied.
James glanced at his friends, then back at Sally, “Sure, I’m not very good anyways,” said James. The other boys nudged him lightly and raised their eyebrows. They turned and started walking away, James looked annoyed as he looked back at them. Sally gasped as she knew what he was thinking.
Paper and books fell to the ground as James’ friends ran into Mr. Kohler as he stepped out of the classroom.

Well congratulations for reading all that! Unless you decided to be a jerk and just scrolled all the way to the bottem.
