Title: Defence #2
Description: 4th years and up!

Daniel Blackspine - August 15, 2008 02:36 PM (GMT)
Daniel sat on the stiff wooden chair behind his desk, feeling pretty annoyed. None of his students had done the homework, considering it was ever so easy. It wouldn't have taken more than five minutes to complete.
He leaned back a bit, thinking what his lesson would be about and what would happen. He would use Legimentis.

He sighed and stood up. He felt angry now. Still about the homeowork. He tapped his wand against the palm of his hand. He then flicked it towards the blackboard, which stood in the corner.

Students will write down why reflexes are important in duels, then prepare for combat, and concentrate on closing your mind!

Emmy Hambleton - August 15, 2008 05:10 PM (GMT)
Emmy walked nervously into class. She hadn't done her homework, and she was sure she would pay for it... Maybe a bad vote...
She sighed and sat on the floor, saying a nervous "goodmorning!" to the professor, before getting on with her task.

During a duel, there are some physical points that might help.
One of them, also the most common, are reflexes.
What they are, is basicly a common way of instinct which makes you protect yourself or a attack, depending on the situation.
Thanks to reflexes, we could spare much more energy and self-control!

She handed it in shyly, before turning back to her seat, and concentrating on closing her mind.
She found that hard, however. She kept thinking back on her last weekend trip back home, and how she had accidently broken a golden orb. That thought kept on haunting her.

Katarzyna Warswik - August 20, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
Katarzyna pulled at a tressel of dark brown hair as she stepped into Defense class. Not only had she not done the homework that was assigned... She had not even attended the last class. Kat wasn't well known for skipping out on classes, especially not one like Defense, so she wasn't quite sure if she'd get herself out of this one.

Ah well, when it comes to the worst, Kat always sweet talked her way out of situations. Shouldn't be a problem.

As soon as the Slytherin sauntered in she saw one other student. Hambleton. Oh God. If this Slytherin and the Ravenclaw infront of her weren't enemies, then God only knows what they were. And then there was the young teacher, Blackspine. Katarzyna gave him a simple, uncommited half-smile and sat down in the back row.

Reflexes.
Reflexes are very important during a duel, especially when defending yourself. Involuntarily they control attack and movement speed and accuracy, as well as the difficulty of an opponent's attack. A last moment reflex may very well save you life depending on the situation.

Katarzyna sighed, muttering, "Gotowy," to herself in Polish.... Done.

Katarzyna got gracefully to her feet and walked up to the front of the room silently and placed the piece of parchment on Blackspine's desk. The rest of the assignment was to control your mind, to close it. Like this Slytherin could ever do that. her mind was constantly working, every second... Always wondering what it 'wanted to be today' as Kat would explain it. She refused to think she was BiPolar, there was no way that was true.

Katarzyna sat back in her desk and brought her head down into her hands, laying it on the desk as if she were sleeping.

Emily Fall - August 21, 2008 09:01 AM (GMT)
Emily walked into the class. She wasn't smiling, but she wasn't glaring either. "Good Morning Professor Blackspine" Emily said calmly as she sat down at a desk. Emily got out her parchment and quill. She wrote down...

Reflexes are very important in a duel. They can work on your behalf or on your downfall. It can make you win the duel on the last second, or it could make you fling your wand half way across the room. A reflex is an instinct that can make you protect yourself without thinking.
Emily Fall.

Emily walked up to Professor Blackspines desk and handed the work. "I won't be acting like I did last class" Emily said to him quietly.

Emily walked back to her desk and sat don. She got out the picture she had been working on that she started last Defense lesson. Emily got out a pencil and started to draw.

Katherine Towers - August 21, 2008 11:37 AM (GMT)
Kath wasn't bothered by the fact that she didn't do her homework. Her reason: she was busy. Busy enough to skip all her classes' homework.
She walked in to Defence lesson number 2 with resent. She had no idea what punishment she was going to have to take.
Luckily, however, it seemed that none of his students actually did their homework. Which was why they were doing it now, in class. Now, it was homework no longer, and she smiled.

Katherine scribbled on her parchment:

Reflexes are the most important thing in duels except for a pair of working brains. It is your agility to think and act. It is one of everyone's natural insticts.

Kath read the board again and wondered what they might be doing, pulling out her wand and placing it neatly on her desk.

Daniel Blackspine - August 21, 2008 11:45 AM (GMT)
Daniel looked at the students that had now arrived.
He smiled once at Katarzyna when she handed in the homework, and looked pleased as everyone was doing it quietly, without discussing.
He nodded at Emily, smiling slightly.

A few students were still missing, so he decided to wait a few more minutes before beggining.
"All right, class! Who wants to start off with using Legimentis?" he asked in a friendly tone.

Cedric Goldragon - August 21, 2008 04:51 PM (GMT)
OOC: It's Valentina and Cedric in this post.

Valentina had been rushing along the dark dungeon corridor (OOC: I think it's in the dungeons, anyway.), so buisy concentrating on time, that she was caught by surprise when she smacked, head first, into a fellow friend.

"Cedric!" she gasped, giving him a quick, friendly hug. "Haven't seen you in ages!" she started heading for the classroom, Cedric close behind.

He opened the door for her, politely. "Well, I now have a girlfriend and everything!" he grinned, flashing a brilliant smile. She smiled back.
"Goodmorning, Professor!" they both said, one after the other. Cedric had only heard the last part, 'Legilimentis'. He knew what it would be about.

Katarzyna Warswik - August 22, 2008 12:49 AM (GMT)
Katarzyna noticed another Slytherin girl walk in and do the assignment. Kat thought her name was... Katherine or something. Well whatever, Katarzyna had never really talked to her that is.

"Legimentis? That's mind reading..or well, at least using the power of the mind, right?" she said, fiddling with her quill and scribling lightly on her desk, not even looking up at the handsome defense teacher. She knew what it was, but for some reason Kat was in a mood where she wanted to be even slightly helpful. it didn't look like the rest of the class did the homework, she felt a little bad for Blackspine. Katarzyna thought that she'd atleast try to give the lesson a kick start.

Alex Grenich - August 23, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
Alex ran down the stairs, thinking how late he was. Or was he? He would not have any idea. He didn't have a watch. All he knew was that he didn't want to be. He had never been late to class before and wasn't going to start a habit soon. He smiled at the professor as he came in and rushed to a desk.
Alex had caught the last words of the Slytherin girl, who had spoken when he came.
"--using the power of the mind, right?"
He frowned. Legilimentis?
This was going to be fun.
He got out his quill and wrote down:

Reflexes are important because they are the fastest involuntary movement and is useful for quick and fast reactions so that one could avoid another, or attack another with speed. It can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Katarzyna Warswik - August 23, 2008 04:03 PM (GMT)
Katarzyna looked at the blonde boy who had stumbled in as soon as she finished speaking. She caught the expression on his face and could tell he was less than excited for the Defense lesson. He looked a little familiar, and he was a ravenclaw. She'd never talked to him though, just seen him in classes.

"Bet you wish you skipped this lesson," she whispered to him as he sat down. "You lok a little less than excited for a Ravenclaw."

Alex Grenich - August 23, 2008 04:23 PM (GMT)
He looked up as the girl spoke.
"No, not at all." he replied. Never would he admit that he rarely enjoys his lessons.
He smiled.
"Nicely pointed out." he said, but that was all.

Fox Canning - August 25, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
Fox Canning mosied on in right after the smaller blond Ravenclaw. A lot taller in stature, it wasn't easy for Fox to slip in unnoticed. Professor Blackspine had always been atleast the closest to a favorite teach that Fox had. Fox excelled in this class. It wasn't hard for Fox to excel in any class with a fomer Death Eater training him on the side.

He let a cool had slide through his spiked blond hair as he shot a nod in the direction of Professor Blackspine, and letting his azure eyes float around the room. His tall form made its way to another empty seat in the back of the room by a beautiful Slythering girl. He recognised her from his house, but could only recollect her last name. Warswick.

The heir let himself slide down easily into the uncomfortable desk chair and offered the girl next to him his typical flirtatious smile. He had missed the early assignment, and wasn't too sure what exactly was going on now. However, Fox was undoubtedly positive it wouldn't be hard for him to catch up in an instance.

Katarzyna Warswik - August 25, 2008 02:11 AM (GMT)
katarzyna had smirked in reply to the Ravenclaw, then continued to cross her arms around her waist and slide down ever so slightly in her chair. She was preparing herself to start day dreaming, despite the fact that she might want to practice closing her mind for the lesson they were learning when another student walked in.

Kat recognized him, he was a Slytherin. One of the tall older boys that Kat always felt self concious around because she was shorter. The Slytherin girl had no sense of her own beauty, whatsoever.

She'd much sooner be jealous of a Hufflepuff girl's looks than look at herself in the mirror and smile. The tall boy sat next to her. Kat knew his name, but just by reputation. She didn't make anything of it, until he flashed her a dazzling smile.

The Polish beauty felt a chill go up her spine, and for a moment hid her face with her hair as she smiled to herself. "If he expects me to clear my mind for this lesson, he better pass me some fire whiskey or something- there's constant noise in this head," she muttered to Fox casually.

Fawne Sugarmoon - August 25, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
She was awfully late to her lesson and she knew it, though she did have a valid, if unusable excuse this time. Defence would be the first class she attended since the 'incident' in the forest. The first class she felt 'well' enough to attended, although she could hardly see the need defence lessons now. She took a moment to compose herself outside of the door, checking the little glamour charms she had in place to turn her eyes from red to amber.

She didn't apologise on the right off because she didn't want to draw attention to herself and being petite she was able to slink into the class. She sat the row behind a couple of slytherin's and read the words on the black board. Within moments she had scrawled down information on reflexes, the task being a simple one. Clearing her mind however was proving to be more difficult. Her mind was forever distracted but thankfully people often found it hard to make sense of her mind when reading it. Maybe that would be a good enough defence...

Fox Canning - August 26, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
Fox smirked at Katarzyna's comment to him and leaned back in his chair. He scratched the back of his blond head. "Come on, this stuffs easy," he muttered back to her.

He looked over his shoulder as he sensed another enter the room. Fox took in Fawne Sugarmoon. He only recognised her because of her step-brother Craven Blackwood, a friend of his. Fox couldn't help but let his wandering eye travel over Fawne as it had Katarzyna before.

He returned his gaze towards the front of the room, knowing that Fawne probably wouldn't enjoy him staring at her. He was also curious who would volunteer to be Blackspine's guinea pig for today's lesson.

Fawne Sugarmoon - August 26, 2008 07:37 PM (GMT)
She'd been so absorbed in her own thoughts she hadn't noticed the gaze directed at her as she entered the room. In fact she hadn't noticed a great deal of anything. She did catch the gazer turning back round when she sat down but her mind was already set on the task. It was moments later when she was trying to clear her mind that she finally did recognise him; her human memories were a little foggy after all. She lent across her desk easily, with a hidden grace, left hand snaking forward to tap him lightly on the shoulder.

"You are Fox Canning...It is delightful to finally meet you." She was smiling as she spoke her voice twinkling like wind chimes. Her eyes dashed to the professor, checking what he was doing, before turning back to Fox.

Daniel Blackspine - August 29, 2008 10:07 AM (GMT)
Daniel looked pleased with his class. No homework, but they seemed to be doing fine.
He smiled at Katarzyna. "The basic idea is right, miss Warswik!" he said politely.
"And who knows how to close your minds?" he asked again to the class. "Ten house points to whoever answers it correctly!"

He wondered who in all the class would actually be able to block him entering their minds.

OOC: PM me on who can block their minds, and who Daniel can enter in.
