Chloe sat by the lake, running her hand through the water, bored as ever. She hadn't made hardly any friends since she came to Hogwarts and wished she could make some. If she didn't soon, she thought she might go insane.
"Man, I'm weird..." she mumbled ot herself, looking around the area in search of someone to talk to.

Tynan swam with strong strokes toward shore. Although he was underwater he knew almost exactly where he would surface. He came up right where he thought he would. He began to climb out of the water then noticed a girl sitting there. He fell back into the water. The swim had been rather impromptu and Tynan's clothes had somehow ended up behind a bush. He had hoped that no one would be present when he returned.

"Ummm... Hi." He said keeping low in the water.

"Hmm? Oh, hi!" Chloe replied, surprised that someone had said hi to her. "Sorry, I was spacing out..."

Tynan breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe she hadn't seen him when he came out. He swam to the shore but kept low in the water.

"Ummmm... Behind that bush theres a set of clothes and a robe. Do you think you could uh... Hand them to me?" He hoped he wasn't blushing too much.

Chloe blinked for a second, confused, and then realized it. "Oh, sure," she replied with a tint of red on her cheeks. She walked over the the bush, picked up the clothes sitting there and held them out to him.

Tynan took them greatfully and stepped out of the water. His blush deepend as he held his clothes up infront of him.

"Could you turn around?" He asked sheepishly.

"Ah, of course!" Chloe replied quickly and spun around, closing her eyes as she did so.

Tynan put his pants. "You can turn back now, unless you object to seeing my naked chest." He chuckled and without waiting for a responce he put his shirt on.

"OK, now I can talk." He said walking over to her shaking his head to get the water out of his hair.

"Alright!" Chloe replied, spinning around to face him. "I'm Chloe!" She said, holding out her hand and smiling.

Tynan was rather taken aback by her greeting but he didn't show it. "Charmed I'm sure." Tynan responded in all seriousness taking her hand and lightly kissing it in a very old fashoned way. He looked up and smiled.

"I've never seen you, 're you new here?"

Chloe smiled happily. "Yep, just came this year," Chloe answered. "It's nice to meet you."

'You too." Tynan smiled and held out his arm. "Would you care to walk with me around the lake?" He asked. For somereason he was feeling exceedingly old fashoned today, he only hoped he didn't make too much of a fool of himself. Not that he really cared.

"Surely," Chloe said, taking his arm with her smile still on her face. She loved meeting new people. "Hmm...what year are you in now?" Chloe asked, wanting to start a conversation.

"I'm in my seventh year." Tynan replied. "At least I think so. I tend to lose track easily." He laughed and blushed a little again. "So tell me 'bout yourself." Tynan said making his own attempt at conversation.

"Well, I like making people happy..." Chloe replied uncertainly. "That's really my only talent...because I'm horrible at magic and things of that nature. And I tend to space out in class, so my grades are always horrible..." Chloe laughed. "I just can never concentrate."

"What'd you mean make people happy?" Tynan asked curiously with a smile. She sure seemed happy herself and Tynan couldn't deny her happiness was contagious.

"Like...help people with their problems," Chloe stated. "My dream is to be able to help people all over the world...but I also believe that every little act of kindness helps, so wherever I'm needed, I'm there."

Tynan chuckled. "You must be awfully busy." He said with a joking sort of glint in his eye. "I guess that'd be interesting." He said with a bit of thought. "I enjoy listening to peoples problems, but I don't get a chance to do it very often. I don't really know that many people." He turned sort of glum at that.

Chloe sighed. "Neither do I, that's the only problem..." she started, but then changed her mood to happy again. "But don't worry, I'm sure you can make tons of friends!" She smiled happily.

"I don't want tons of friends." Tynan said with a slight smile. "I like having a few friends that I can really talk to." He paused. "You know what I mean?" He asked cocking his head to one side in a bird like way.

"Well, yeah, I only really have one good friend I can talk to...she's helped me out through a lot..." Chloe stated. "But...I guess I'm the type of person who would rather have tons of acquaintances instead of a few close friends. It's better that way because then...you don't get attached." Chloe smiled and sighed.

"Whats wrong with getting attached?" Tynan asked. He didn't want to seem like he was prying but he really did want to know. It seemed unnatural that anyone wouldn't want to be attached to at least a few people.

"Oh, a lot of reasons. The main two are that if you die, they get sad. And if you get too attached, you could forget that you're trying to make other people happy and try to make yourself happy...by hurting others." Chloe answered. "I believe wherever love exists, hate also exists...so if you stay in between both, you'll never have to deal with either of them."

"That a bleak outlook." Tynan said before he could stop himself. "I mean... You'd never even think about loving someone else? Love is worth everything that comes with it." He could only speak from experence as far as he knew it but that was enough.

"Yeah, but say you and your best friend love the same person. Then, what do you do?" Chloe asked seriously. "It's happened before and it always ends up horrendous."

"I'm sorry..." Tynan replied looking a little sad but looking her in the eyes. "That must've been pretty terrible for you." He smiled. "But, lets forget that." He said but failing to suggest any other alternitives.

Chloe blinked and then laughed. "Ah, wait, I said that wrong." She hit herself on the head, still laughing. "I meant, two of my friends liked the same guy. I wasn't included... But they ended up having a fight and never speaking to each other again... and since I wanted to be friends with both...and neither of tem liked that...I kind of... got kicked out by both too... and haven't made any more friends until I came here."

"That sucks." Tynan said bluntly. "But at least you weren't a part of it. It coulda been much worse." He pasued then started speaking again. "Sorry, I've never quite experenced anything like that."

"It's ok. I'm over it. They weren't very nice friends anyway..." Chloe said. "Here at Hogwarts, I've met much nicer people!"
